Great Museum!

This museum definitely gives you a comprehensive look into Vietnam's history and culture. Some of the exhibits are quite fun to participate in as well.

This gives a "snapshot" of the many ethnic groups that make up Vietnam and how they lived and live. It was pretty fascinating, if you have time to visit. I wouldn't put it on the top 5 things I would want to do, but it certainly will go on the top 10.

During our stay in Hanoi we paid a visit to the Ethnology Museum. The hotel concierge recommended that we take some time and see the gardens and the outdoor exhibits. While the museum itself wax well worth the visit, we had to agree that the outdoor gardens and displays of a wide variety of ethnic architecture was the best part... More

If you don't have time to travel from south to north and west to east it is a good passage to learn about Vietnam, with all the different hetnies with their different way of living

It was amazing seeing all the different tribes in Vietnam and by extension south east asia. Very interesting seeing how all the different tribes built their community, dressed themselves and ate. It's about 30mins from Hanoi center, and the taxis around the museum aren't that familiar with the hotels in the city centre, so be sure to know your hotel... More

Went to this attraction as part of a day tour. The museum was not a highlight for us but this maybe because we were on museum overload when we got there. The outside grounds are lovely and worth the visit alone.

This museum is wonderful! There is an inside exhibit featuring historical village scenes and outdoors many thatched roof homes indicative to the different geographical areas of North and South Vietnam. I enjoyed the open air rooms depicting life as it was generations ago and how the people made the best of their natural resources. There is also a room dedicated... More

This is an interesting museum but the outdoor displays of housing styles throughout Vietnam were of most interest to us. Uni students at various displays can explain exhibits. Most have some English but not all. Inside exhibition was a bit underlit and sometimes difficult to view and read about.
