About
Anchored by the Peace Memorial, these gardens offer 50 acres of trails, fields and gardens, including many flowers, trees and concrete sculptures. Two small lakes offer swan boats and fishing spots, and an island in the middle is popular for couples. There are trails for runners and cyclists, fields for sports, and ample opportunity for bird watching.

I was looking for a place to relax and then I searched and found this lovely garden.
I came there and to my surprise, the place looks like a miniature forest with lots of giant trees, hills and lakes. I went for a walk to explore and found myself calm and enjoying it a lot.
Quite a few people was there too. Most of them were just exercising and relaxing. They also seemed to find this place a hideout from all the hustle and bustle of Hanoi.
On the whole, if you are looking for a place to just sit down and recharge, this is one of those for sure!

We came here to find a certain geocache, and enjoyed strolling through the calm, fresh greenness. This is where many Hanoi folk come to do the same - exercise groups, runners, families. A few animals in small enclosures. Pretty ponds and some nice statues. We were enjoying good weather walking around this part of HaNoi, but wished there were more entrances as we had to go out of our way to get inside.

The garden itself is okay, but I can't believe what we just saw... there are caged monkeys, living in horrible conditions - small cage, many monkeys, and the smell of pee and poo.
The garden is okay, but I would never return there after seeing those caged animals living in horrible conditions. Made me feel really bad

Mice relaxing gardens with a few lakes and bridges. Lost a star as most the entrances and exists were closed which meant we had to walk further ro get to where we needed to go. Also on entry we just walked in, no bother. But on our way back, on second entry, a lady was trying to make us pay! Pretty sure it was just because we were foreigners too which really peeves me off. So we walked around the park instead.
Also saddened to see some beautiful birds such as peacocks in small cages. Peacocks should be able to roam and spread their beautiful feathers.

Nice Park with lots different trees many quite old. Caged birds and birds sad, in smallish unpleasant cages.
Lots of family and friends sporting activity especially badminton and running. Even quite skillfully badminton with feet!

DO NOT VISIT THIS PARK!! The worst part about this garden was the monkeys caged in absolute appalling conditions: tiny, dark and damp cages with no sunlight or stimulation, the monkeys appeared to have patches of fur missing and looked desperately bored and lonely. So so sad to see and so gutted I paid to enter this park before realising the horrid display of animal cruelty here.
The park itself is nothing special anyway - murky pond water and dying trees so stay well clear of this place.

If you know anything about trees, or just love trees, this is the place to visit. For only 2,000 VND, you can spend hours here, strolling around the two lakes, visiting the tiny pagoda or just admiring the mighty, statuesque trees.
It may not be Kew Gardens, but it is a delight all the same. We spent several hours, meandering around twice, remembering to look upwards at the glorious tree canopies. And there is a fine little café in the far corner where we sheltered from the monsoon for an hour.
I’ve noticed some very negative reviews about the Gardens, but you should ignore them. This is a quiet, even serene refuge from the craziness of bikes and scooters and great for peace and reflection. Move slowly, take your time and keep your eyes open. Don’t miss the lunatic gaggle of geese on the lake, either!

After the hectic streets of the Old Quarter, we fancied a bit of peace and quiet and so where better to go than the Botanical Gardens?
In truth, it's more like an enclosed park than a botanical garden in the British sense but it's set around s lake, is a lovely walk and you get to see largely Hanoi residents relaxing. Some walk, some run. Some dance, some play badminton/keepy uppy. It's real life, it's relaxed, it's recommended.
Personally, I'd tie it in (like we did) with a visit to nearby Huu Tiep Lake and it's sunken B52 and Ho Tay (West) Lake and the Cha Tran Quoc pagoda.

The gardens were OK, but they keep monkeys and birds in cages. They were very miserable.. I do not support this.

We went to this place and were conned to pay 2000 VND for entry. We realized later that it was required only for bike parking. The park is teeming with activities in the evening and it's a good place to relax.

Hi I was wondering if you can walk dogs in the botanical gardens and if not where is a good green place to walk them?
Written 20 June 2016
Dogs would have to be on a lead, I don't think there would be much of an issue though. Most dog owners walk the west lake but again, your dog would have to be on a lead. I haven't seen any area's in Hanoi where dogs can have a decent run off-lead I'm afraid.
