- Wonder A421 contributionsThe Beautiful Lake of Hoan KiemThe Hoan Kiem Lake is a beautiful green lake with a peaceful environment. It is frequented not only by tourists but also the locals who simply loved being there to soak in the cool atmosphere. Along the lake is the Ngoc Son Temple, the Huc bridge and Temple of Literature where visitors never fail to have their pictures for memory.Visited February 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 5 April 2024
- arpitamGurugram (Gurgaon), India962 contributionsWorth spending an eveningA nice promenade for evening walk around the lake. You may or may not visit the temple, the lake and its surroundings itself make a good destination. It was a delightful time watching The central fountain and people around.Visited April 2024Travelled with familyWritten 12 April 2024
- Mavrick232Melbourne, Australia131 contributionsWalking Street and Night MarketIf you are heading in to the Water puppet theatre then you must check this out also. Love the fact they close off the streets to traffic from Friday evening to Sunday so it is a true walking street market with lots of food and drink options. definitely worth a visit whilst in Hanoi.Visited April 2024Travelled with familyWritten 23 April 2024
- SHNVietnam1,303 contributionsWeekend frolicWalking around Hoan Kiem lake is sheer joy.. but the one thing that makes all the difference to the experience is the day and time of your visit. Weekends after sun down is when it is the best. Vehicular traffic isn’t allowed on weekends, so walking around is all the more relaxed and fun. The whole atmosphere is so festive and fun. Lot of places to eat, drink coffee & icecream. Adjoining street has the night market where you can be sure to pick up some good bargains.. souvenirs, clothes, bags!Visited April 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 29 May 2024
- Ovy QMalaysia4 contributionsSaturday night at HanoiLast week, we visited Hanoi and explored this bustling street. When I arrived on Saturday night, the street was packed with people. There were plenty of fascinating items for sales, but be sure to haggle, especially when purchasing souvenirs.Visited July 2024Travelled with familyWritten 7 August 2024
- Jack WilliamAustralia2 contributionsWalking StreetHoan Kiem Walking Street was a highlight of my Hanoi trip. On weekends, the area becomes a lively pedestrian zone with street performers, food stalls, and games. The atmosphere is welcoming and full of energy, making it a must-visit spot. It's a great way to experience local culture without spending much.Visited July 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 16 August 2024

There's always lots of people taking photos, young children practicing their english with you. It's basically a nice quiet place away from the motorbikes and cars but close to the attractions.Visited August 2024Travelled soloWritten 12 September 2024

Hanoi is known as the city of Lakes. This is quite a large lake right in the heart of the city with a good paved footpath and lots of shade and benches to sit and watch the world go by. Lots of restaurants and bars etc. The island and the temple are nothing special but hey if you are here it would be rude not too! There was one day when they closed the roads around the lake and there was music and dancing and kids driving in electric cars.
There are endangered large soft-shell turtles swimming in the lake, and to see one of these gentle giants is considered very auspicious. Unfortunately we didn't see one.
The local youngsters come here to talk to tourists to practice their English.
Nice place to visit after a frenetic walk around the Old Quarter.

The lake is best experienced at night. Lights illuminate the lake attractions and it definitely sets the mood for walk and food trip.
Fortunate that our hotel, New Vision Palace Hotel, is just a few blocks away from here and to the old quarters. This is my favorite place in Hanoi.

This was our first day in Vietnam. Our guide took us to Hoan Kiem Lake Walking Street. During the day it is busy, but at night when it is all lit up, looks stunning. It is where a lot of the local people gather to chat play games, or simplyeat a snack or liston to the buskers.

This was our first place we went to in Hanoi. We got to the lake only in the evening, when it became dark. But it turned out to be just as wonderful a time as if we had come here during the day. In the evening, the streets around the lake are closed and become accessible only to pedestrians. This is a wonderful time when you can take a quiet walk and enjoy the silence, without the sound bustle of transport. But the area around the lake is very crowded. And also, there are a lot of rats here. And when you decide to relax and sit on a bench and enjoy the view of the lake, then expect these cute rodents near your feet. These "pets" will crawl on your legs. This is the only negative for me. Otherwise the place is great. You can also visit the temple and walk along the red bridge

At the weekend the streets around the lake are closed to traffic and it becomes a walking street area. There are musicians, dancers, people playing games and much more. At the south end of the lake children have fun on small cars etc. We have visited Hanoi several times and always make sure we are there at the weekend.

Spacious walking space, many trees, beautiful view, friendly and hospitable people. Coming here, you must definitely try Trang Tien ice cream on Trang Tien street, visit and buy books on Dinh Le street, enjoy coffee. Recommend to you one of my favorite and delicious coffee shops: HighLands Coffee Ham sharks on Dinh Tien Hoang street. The drinks here are a bit high compared to other shops, but in return the drinks are delicious, of good quality, the staff are friendly, especially the view overlooking Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc Square and being able to see Hoan Kiem Lake from above. . You can also choose street foods such as candy, beef skewers, bread, grilled meat skewers... There is also a tram service to visit Hanoi's old quarter and a double-decker bus to see Hanoi city. from above at reasonable prices.

Beautiful place to spend an evening. I think it needs to be visited both during the daylight as well as in the night. The whole area around the lake gets beautifully eluminated and gets a very positive vibes with live singing programs on certain days and free dancing classes for locals every day. I have seen lake districts of UK, Slovenia, Austria but have never seen such beautiful eluminated lake area anywhere. There are plenty of restaurants around the lake for dinner. It doesn't take more than a couple of hours to complete a walk around the lake with lot of photo stops.

It had been a few years since our last visit to Hoan Kiem Lake and fortunately for us it was a Saturday afternoon and we were able to spend 2 hours there while waiting for our transport to Ba Be Lake. The streets around the lake are closed at the weekends and there were plenty of activities including a market with food stalls and many other stalls t the north end of the lake. Children were playing games and at the south end of the lake children were riding bikes and other contraptions.

So beautiful and peaceful place.
Near by Hoan Kiem Lake with another name "Turtle Lake", which has story behind it involving a sword ...

A nice walking street around Hoan Kiem lake. Young people can play shuttlecock, rollerblade, play sports, socialize, shoot vlogs... the couple has romantic seats along the lakeside..
