This place was built between 1805 and 1812 under King Gia Long and is over 2 centuries old. It resembles an old stone fortress and has steps leading to the top where one can get a good view of the city. There are old cannon sitting at the base of the place at grand level.

This site is part of the larger Hanoi Citadel world heritage site. As such, it deserves a spot on your itinerary. More recently, it is also a much photographed part of the Vietnam war.

Very simple and basic landmark. Climbing onto the upper tiers of the tower offers a rather clear view of the vicinity. However, getting to the highest accessible tier requires climbing up rather steep and narrow steps. Not recommended for visitors with bad knees or elderly...More

Enjoyable experience - a have-to-visit place for Americans, in my opinion. Interesting getting a different perspective, for sure.

An interesting museum but the lack of air conditioning made it quite hard work, the lovely lady with the wee shop let us sit inside and drink out water - thank you

Having lived my formative years during the American War this interested me. Obviously bias is to the Vietnamese in this museum but it is effective. Captured USA tanks and planes feature heavily. Well worth the admission and time.

The Military War Museum provides some interesting facts concerning the last different wars. It's free and doesn't take long to visit. The Flag Tower is a historical monument which made it worth seeing if you are in the area (it is very close to the...More

I actually went here for a kindergarten field trip, which really doesn't make very much sense, but it was a very interesting place. It is very interesting to walk around and view the war time relics and there are informative boards that are in English...More

Impressive tower mainly due to the historical significance (end of the war between Vietnam and USA). I recommend mostly the night view, when it looks imposing. Plus it's inside the War Museum, which is the complementary visit for the war history.

Part of the Military War Museum. Not so much of a must visit while you're in Hanoi. Could spare a visit if you've got some extra time to kill.
