Sophie was a perfect guide for my first approach with Hanoi, while we walked in this exciting city patiently explained historical and architectural episodes of its streets. He likes history and is passionate about clearly explaining iconic places. It was a splendid day with my guide.

I took a Hanoi Old Quarter tour with Poem back in February. She is the BEST tour guide and I had such a fun time going around for a few hours discovering the wonders of the old quarter. Since it was my last full day in Hanoi, she customised our route to fit my interests and showed me all the gems of places, like the Long Bien Bridge and Art Street. I was so happy that she showed these places to me because it had completely gone under my radar and I would’ve missed it if it weren’t for this tour. I also liked how Poem would talk about Vietnamese culture and then we’d chat about how it compares to different cultures including mine. She was also very helpful and happy to take loads of pictures of me in front of pretty places (haha thanks Poem). I feel like we became friends because we would just chat endlessly and share many laughs! Thank you Poem and I love Hanoi!

(Sorry about the delay Poem! I hope you’re doing well and I’m sending you love from Australia! Wishing you well with the tour guide endeavour! 🤗🇻🇳🧡)

Our family of 4 knew we would arrive early AM and so we decided to organise a street food tour for lunch. I managed to book it for the next day easily whilst in transit changing flights. When we arrived at our hotel and connected to WiFi they had sent a welcome message via WhatsApp with details. We asked to postpone by an hour as our daughter didn't sleep on the flight and crashed as soon as we arrived. Also my wife is gluten free which we noted on booking and again they said no problem to our requests. Jenna our guide was a final year student at university and truly lovely. She had a very easy going manner and our girls especially got on so well with her. We loved the food places we visited and sampled lots of different dishes in 2 or 3 places. We then asked to visit the lake and Jenna said no problem and explained all the history of the lake and we took lots of pictures. She then walked us back to our hotel (where she came to meet us also at the start). Our tour was 3 hours in total and the guides don't get paid they are volunteering so it's important to tip them generously if you had a great time as we did.

My Sapa tour guide introduced me to the free guide service while I was travelling from Sapa to Hanoi. I am grateful that this last-minute (less than a day's notice) arrangement was made possible.

12 of us planned to cover Ho Chin Ming Musume and Prison Relic within half a day but realised later that we were too ambitious. Eventually, we only covered part of HCM Musume and went on to the Prison Relic tour. We also had lunch and a coffee break in between.

The part I enjoyed most in this tour was the chit-chat session with Linh at a cafe where we understood better about the local's lifestyle and society, and definitely the prison relic tour. Thanks to Linh, our tour guide, who SHOWED us how the locals brave through the sufferings in the war. I can feel the heart of those heroes and heroines!

This was indeed a memorable trip! All the best for your last Uni year, Linh!

Thank you for using our service and for your feedback. We are so glad that you and Linh had such a good time together. With the information you shared, we are sorry that you have a little regret in your journey. However, there's one detail that I would like to verify with you: in half a day, you visited the whole Ho Chi Minh museum and Hoa Lo prison, then enjoyed Hanoi cuisine with Cong coffee and banh gio. Perhaps you have had a bit of confusion between Ho Chi Minh museum and Hochiminh Complex - the stilt house and Ba Dinh square and the architecture you wanted to go to is located in the Ho Chi Minh complex, not in the Ho Chi Minh museum. We regret that due to time reasons, Linh was not able to take you to visit the whole Hochiminh complex as it usually takes 4 hours to fully explore this area. Hanoi Free Private Tour Guides hope that we can accompany you on your next trip and we will prepare well for a visit to Hochiminh Complex if you wish. Best regards,

We visited the Ho Chi Minh mausoleum and then the museum in Hanoi. When we entered we were approached by Lily and Anna who are students, offering us a free guided tour of the museum. We accepted, and they are the two loveliest girls you could meet in Vietnam. They were so keen to share the history of their country with us and spoke fantastic English
They made it very interesting and were keen to share stories about our country too. I want to thank them so much for their time and patience with us as it was very noisy with lots of school children which sometimes made it difficult to hear them. But they persevered with us. They walked with us to the one pillar pagoda and we had a really nice conversation with them. Thank you again Lily and Anna, you were brilliant! From Andrea and Kevin

Cielo and I had a wonderful tour with Susie and Poem. They clearly know a lot about the city and its attractions and we enjoyed every minute of our tour. They also taught us how to cross the street safely which is not easy in Hanoi. Many thanks to you both and Happy New Year.

I contacted the student tour organization at the last minute and was delighted that they could accommodate us at such short notice. They met us at our hotel and they were able to customize a tour just for us. I mentioned that we'd already seen Hoan Kiem Lake and a few other sights on our own so we were mostly interested in the historical aspects of the old quarter. Our two university student tour guides, Mia (Nho) and Nhung were excellent guides. They both spoke English well and took us to see the heritage house, the old bridge and old temple. They provided interesting commentary and a lot of valuable insights into Vietnamese history and culture. We definitely learned a lot! We had so many questions and they answered all of them!

The trip was amazing! We only had one day in Hanoi and wanted to make the best of it. The tour took around 2-3 hours and we visited 4 landmarks and learned a lot from our guide - Tran Khanh Ly. She was very knowledgeable and friendly, and has great English! I would recommend to anyone who wants to explore the city and culture of Vietnam

Mun our guide was lovely and very friendly, she took us to a bustling noodle bar, a sticky rice joint, dessert place and traditional cafe. All the food was very authentic and all the locations were full of local people, we felt very immersed. Personally, I really enjoyed the egg coffee which is a Vietnamese creation where egg yolk condensed milk, sugar and coffee are mixed for a perfect mix of sweet and bitter. The tour was around 3 hours for us but could be as long or as short as you’d want and Mun always asked what we were looking for next: mains, snacks or sweet foods! I highly recommend.

We enjoyed the tour a lot! Shalia took a lot of time for us and adjusted the tour to our interests, even spontaneously, which was really awesome!
We met at 8:30 at our hotel and we needed to withdraw local money (because we just arrived to VN the night before), so she walked shortly with us to the ATM, which didn’t work, so she kindly helped us to find the bank. Afterwards we went to the Vietnam Military History Museum, which just freshly opened in the new building, and Shalia explained us a lot about the history, we learned a lot. We spent there quite some time till noon and went to a nice restaurant afterwards. She helped us with taxis and restaurant she chose was awesome! Afterwards, we went to the Hoa Lo Prison, which was around the corner, and there we learned also a lot of interesting things! Briefly on the way we saw the famous train street and Shalia showed it to us as well because we got curious - it was an amazing experience.
She also answered a lot of our questions about Vietnam in general, which was great!
Of course, if you book this tour, you should pay for the food/entrance for the guide as well, but these are small additional expenses (+ you might want to give tips at the end)
We were glad that we booked this tour! Highly recommended!
