Great time with my wife and kids.
We had a great class with Ruby who took us to the markets close by to show us all the ingredients to make the 5 meals that we chose to make. Ruby helped us through the whole process of each dish. The room was air conditioned and there were helpers to assist with cleaning after each step. Thank you!!

Brilliant experience: a must-do in Vietnam
I did a private class with Vy - she was so knowledgable about various ingredients and her English was impeccable, she was almost poetic in the way she described certain herbs and flavours! I really enjoyed learning more about the Vietnamese way of life as we chatted throughout. The cooking session went at a relaxed pace but we still managed five varied and delicious dishes, and my partner and toddler were able to come and join us to eat at the end. Vy even kept our son entertained whilst we tucked into the banquet. Thank you Vy - she and her colleagues work so hard to bring this excellent class to visitors multiple times daily.

    Wonderful cooking class
Our Apron Up Cooking Class was extraordinary! We shopped in the market for fresh ingredients and went up to the kitchen to make Bun Cha, fried spring rolls, papaya salad, dipping sauce and egg coffee. Ruby is knowledgeable, engaging and an excellent teacher. I highly recommend this class!

    Great cooking class!
Great cooking class with Vy! Started out with a trip to the market to buy all the ingredients and then we came to cook five dishes. We got to choose the dishes and it was a very hands on class. We learned a lot and everything was delicious. A great way to spend the day and learn about Vietnamese culture though the food. Highly recommend.

This is the Vietnamese cooking class to take!
I decided to spend the day at a cooking class for the first time in my life. I happen to love pho and Vietnamese food in general so I figured, why not? Well, this class didn’t disappoint. I now know how to make beef pho, papaya salad, pork meatballs, hot spring rolls as well as egg coffee. All were delicious, and all can be made at home. What made the lessons all the more enjoyable was the fellowship and teamwork amongst my fellow classmates. The icing on the cake was the expertise, patience and kindness of our teacher Ruby. If you have the time and opportunity to take a cooking class take this one.

    Exceptional experience
Vu was an amazing host. I loved that we went through the market to buy our ingredients before the class. The class itself was really fun and loved spending some time at the table enjoying our creations with the group. Exceptional!

Private cooking class - absolutely fantastic experince! ❤️
We had such a great time at Apron's private cooking class yesterday. The class started with a visit to local market to buy the ingredients needed for cooking the dishes we had wished for. Our guide Vy told us everything about the local herbs, meats and the market culture. Vy showed us the way of cooking and we followed her example, step by step, dish by dish. After 2 hours (and a bit more) of cooking we sat on the dinner table to have a dinner we had just made! That was delicious and we were really happy about the experience with Apron and especially with our lovely guide Vy. It cost abt 100usd for us as a couple and was definitely worth it. Thank you so much! Highly recommended❤️

Incredible meals from this cooking class
The cooking class was great, easy to get to and we made a variety of delicious dishes! Hands down, we had the best spring rolls here from our South East Asia trip! Our instructor Ruby was very helpful throughout. The meal itself was incredible and we had leftover food that we could take back to enjoy in the evening. I’d definitely recommend this to anyone!

    Worth while experience
My partner and I and two other friends did it together. Was a really nice experience, great to learn the Vietnamese culture and method of making pho and egg coffee. All the food was tasty and more than enough for everyone. You also get happy water at the end which is a bonus 😂. Our teacher was Ruby, who spoke perfect English. Well worth it

This class is overly commercialised and lacks authenticity. Our cooking instructor Mai, was younger and spent more time showing off and cracking distasteful jokes then actually teaching us. She also consistently ran her fingers through her hair before she touching our ingredients which was disgusting. She wasn’t patient with the students that didn’t speak great English, she was more pushy then anything.

We participated in the group class and had no choice in the dishes we cooked contrary to what it said online, we didn’t vote or choose with the group. The dishes were spring rolls, bun cha, pho, papaya salad, and egg coffee. The instructor was showing off and exaggerating so much that the pho ended up being way too salty and the bun cha was too sweet... it was awkward especially when the group told her it was too much whilst cooking and then we all sat around the table eating overly seasoned food.

If you’d like to cook authentic foods, I would suggest finding a smaller business. I wouldn’t recommend this one even though the pictures look great because the process and food is seriously lacking - our entire group was very disappointed.

This course is not to be missed. Que our instructor was extremely funny and a fantastic instructor. She took us through the markets in the morning, explaining how Vietnamese life works. Then to the kitchen where we cooked 5 dishes each. The course held 8 people which was perfect as Que give us all the attention we needed. She speaks perfect English and explains the instructions in a very simple way. 10/10 I would recommend this to anyone!

Had a fabulous day cooking with Siri at Apron Up. She took us to the market to buy everything fresh and made the cooking seem effortless and fun. The best part was eating everything we made, so incredibly delicious!

We had a wonderful privat cooking with Thang (Vicky) at apron up cooking class. It was so nice to choose all 5 dishes as we liked, flexible starting time of the class and a fantastic teacher in Thang (Vicky). We enjoyed it so much! My mother in law and I cooked while my husband and baby watched and later on ate together with us. I would recommend that class to anyone who likes to experience authentic Vietnamese cooking.

We enjoyed a superior (and highly affordable) private cooking class with Siri, who took us shopping through the nearby market street, guided us through the recipes, and answered our many questions. The multi-hour class flew by, and we enjoyed savoring our dishes with Siri while discussing food, life in Vietnam, and more. Would wholeheartedly recommend this rich and relaxing experience to both novice and experienced cooks.

Had a fun afternoon with Siri who speaks perfect English. First, we went to the market to buy the ingredients for the dishes we were going to cook. Then we returned to the restaurant and split up into couples to cook. We learned a lot about not only Vietnamese food, but also their culture and beliefs. Lastly, we were able to taste our creations—-way too much food to eat it all! Siri was delightful and I would recommend this class to anyone wanting to learn more about the Vietnamese food and culture.

Ruby greeted us on arrival with tea while we waited for the rest of the group to arrive, then took us over the road (no easy task in Hanoi) to the local market where she bought fresh ingredients and explained about the various veg / herbs used in Vietnamese cuisine. Back to the restaurant and up narrow stairs to our kitchen, where we washed our hands and put on our aprons before getting hands on with the food. Ruby took us all step by step in preparing 5 dishes then these were taken downstairs for us to eat in a feast fit for a king. Really enjoyable experience and would recommend to anyone who wants to learn a bit more about the local dishes in Vietnam,

The cooking class at Apron Up was incredible!! What made it so great was our teacher Cherry. She’s Amazing!!... so nice, kind, knowledgeable, fun, speaks English perfectly and on top of it all is an Amazing cook!!
I signed up for the group class and there were only three of us. Two of us made vegetarian version dishes and the third made traditional Vietnamese dishes.
We started out with a trip to the market. It was amazing. Our ingredients couldn’t have been any fresher!! Cherry knew so many vendors & it was obvious she’s well liked & popular with them. Not only did we get the ingredients we needed for our dishes, Cherry pointed out different vegetables and fruits I had never seen before in my life. She explained their purpose and flavors! I found it to be fascinating!
I love to cook & worked in restaurants for years. I know my way around the kitchen! Yet Cherry turned us onto some tips that I never knew. Just goes to show you Can teach an old dog new tricks!! After the class we feasted on our creations & ohhh so Delicious!
We received certificates which I thought was cool & a nice touch, plus we got a mini cook book!
I’ve got to say Apron Ups class is the best cooking class I’ve done to date. Cherry made it Amazing!!! Thank you so much!!

Super fun cooking class. Ly is super friendly and she explained everything very well. Today we made traditional Pho Bo, spring rolls, Bun Cha, papaya salad, and Vietnamese egg coffee. I really appreciate that Ly was very reactive when she figured out the majority of the students are vegetarian. As a meat eater I can still enjoy the traditional foods with meat. I will definitely remake what we cooked today at home and I recommend this cooking school if you visit Hanoi.

After several cooking classes in south east Asia, I can say by far this was the best I’ve ever done! Our guide (and head chef!) Nhi was the cherry on top - she took us through the market (with stops for snacks and introductions to local market legends) and walked us through u5 dishes- the stuffed squid and bun cha were total standouts. Come hungry and be prepared to leave with leftovers!
For those with dietaries, they are happy to cater to any of your needs as they did for me no problem.
Would recommend to do at the beginning of your stay in Hanoi so you may visit the market stalls again.
Big thanks to Nhi again who made this especially amazing.
