A hidden gem Koh Yao Yai is still a peaceful island seeped in tradition. We stayed at a new resort Yao Bada Badoo a boutique resort where we rented a private five bedroom villa. Beautiful art and very spacious rooms and ensuite bathroom. It was full board at the restaurant on the resort which is also open to outsiders. Was perfect. Great massage by Chi from Bangkok. The island is beautiful with lots of hidden beaches, jungle and breathtaking views. If you want to avoid tourist crowds then this is the place to visit.

- a peaceful and quiet island - it's best to move around it by scooter, but the locals will gladly give you a lift if you ask - I found three ATMs on the island, one at 7eleven - good restaurants: Jikgo Bar & Restaurant; Sea Breeze House; Ban Rim Nam - best beach: Lam Haad (bring food and drink as there are no shops nearby)

Lovely getaway from the hectic Phuket. You will probably explore the island in 1-2 days with a scooter but you can spend easily 3-4 days if you love to relax. Check out atleast Laem haad beach and Loh Jark pier, Son bay also cool.

Relaxing, calm and heavenly place one of the best I've ever seen. Take a moped to get around and turn it all around, inside there is a typical village where to shop; eat and stock up on the super sweets that the women on the side of the road sell, they are divine! A truly special experience ... We will be back!

This is the island we spend about an hour. Shallow water and white sand. You can walk around quite a bit. Nice place to run around.

There are lot of crabs on all the beaches of this island so if you want to enjoy the peace and calm away from the hustle and bustle of big towns or cities, then this is the place. But there is no beach wherein one can go for a swim. You can only look and admire the beauty.

The island exceeded our expectations. Even though it is quite small and you can drive around it in one day, it has a lot to offer.
The island is mostly Muslim, however it does not differ from the Buddhist islands of Thailand (except for restrictions on buying alcohol). People are very friendly and helpful, food is good and in reasonable prices. There is plenty of beautiful beaches where you may see local children bathing or 'KoYaoYaians' having an aerobics class. On some beaches you may even end up alone or accompanied by monkeys taking a dip in a water.

This is a lovely traditional, away from the tourists, home to the local community. We went as part of an intrepid tour and loved it. Highly recommended

Hi
I am planning to visit either Koh Yao Yai or Noi and stay over for a few days next week. I with my daughter and we would like to hire mopeds. Are the roads pretty quiet on both islands? We don’t fancy it if it’s too busy!

Hi! We are traveling from Koh Yao Yai (Santhiya) to Koh Lanta in December. When consulting our hotel in Koh Lanta, they said the only option to travel from Koh Yao Yai to Koh Lanta is by speedboat from Koh Yao Yai to Ao Tha Lane pier and minivan from the pier to Koh Lanta.
Is this correct or is there any option to travel by speedboat directly to Koh Lanta?

Anyone know how to get from koh jum to koh yao yai and from koh yao yai to Krabi? Looks like there's normally ferries but they may not be running? We will be there end of Feb.
Has anybody taken a speedboat from Bang Rong Pier to Koh Yao Yai recently and know if there is a new last departure time of 7:30pm (instead of the 5:30pm deparuture I see listed everywhere)? Found this time listed as "new" on one site only. We were hoping to spend as much time as we can at our previous location and show up at the pier in evening if possible.

Hi, there is direct ferry from Koh Jum to Koh Yao Yai.
But you can take speedboat from Nopparat Thara pier,
Leamsai pier and Thalen pier to Chonglad pier in Koh Yao Yai.
The ferry cost around 300 thb. Per person per way.

Hi, I am coming to Koh Yao Yai next month. I will be travelling from Phuket and wanted to know whether you need to book the long boats/ speed boat to the island or if you can just turn up on the day, also how often are they? When you get to the island how much are the motorbike taxis to the Santhiya resort? If anyone knows that would be great 😊 thanks in advance

Bonjour 👋 votre expérience donne très envie de s’y rendre ! Étant professeur je souhaiterais vraiment découvrir une école et découvrir également la fabrication du cahouchou... avez vous découvert cela par vous même ou avez vous pris une excursion ? Comment s’y rendre ? Nous serons sur Pucket en février. Par avance merci !!!
