Our tour guide was the owner and was full of information about the house and history. It was a pleasure to view and learn of its history. The architecture is beautiful and remains so unique of these house in Old Phuket. We walked here from our accomadation. Stopped for yummy refreshment on the way back and a warm day.

It was an interesting tour, guided by one of the owners of the house.
Most of the furniture is over 100 years old.
It was very informational and the owner explained the reason behind the layout and also told about the history of the family.
Very interesting.

Well worth a visit if you’d like to learn more about the history of Phuket or enjoy visiting National Trust properties back in the UK. You won’t spend long here, but it’s very interesting to see the traditional architecture and furniture. We were even given a short guided tour by the current owner’s daughter in law before expiring a little on our own. Definitely pop in if you’re exploring old Phuket.

We did not read Trip Advisor prior to visiting and did not know only the Ground Floor was open to public. We were not told when we paid the 150 Baht entrance fee either. So, as we ventured upstairs, we heard one lady shouting at us in Thai... with each step we took, the shouting became even louder. Another lady came running over to us and told us we could not go upstairs. Apparently, the owner stayed upstairs and she was the one who shouted at us!
So terrible!
We left after that. There was nothing much to see and it gave us the spooks.

Visitors pay about THB150 per pax to visit the house that is in 1903. After paying, you will be given a piece of paper that provides a short brief history of the home and the owner. Visitors get to see the ground floor which includes the kitchen, the ancestral hall, the living room and a bedroom and antiques. The layout is similar to Peranakan houses. It’s a pity that the owner didn’t put in more effort to perhaps do more write up eg what’s the purpose of the ancestral room, or the lightwell etc. Or have a guided tour of sorts to let visitors know more about their unique culture and how are they similar or different to the Peranakan in places in Penang, Malacca or Singapore. Do bring along repellent. The mozzies here bite.

Thais pay THB 100 for this and it was honestly overpriced. All you get to see is the lower floor of an old house where they kept all it mostly original since olden days. For the price The Blue Mansion in Penang is waaaaay better. I guess it’s one way to earn some money to maintain the house but if they can reduce the admission price perhaps it’s more attractive. Thaihua museum with more information and more rooms to see was only THB 50 and you feel the value.

Chinpracha House also known as Baan Chinpracha is an elegant house which is open to the public at a nominal entrance fee. It's a step back into history as you walk into the 'Angmor lounge' home which is full of furniture and with paraphernalia from the early 1900's. Cameras are welcome and it is a treat to the avid photographer! If you are in Phuket to soak in the culture, this is a visit not to be missed. However, please be reminded that only the ground floor is open to the public. Do read up prior to your visit if you are going there on your own as the current lady owner and an assistant will leave you on your own to explore the house. There's also a gift / souvenir shop located near the main entrance of the house.

Beautiful house. So much detail. They should have a docent to explain everything. We were lucky to be in a guided tour.

This house is an opportunity to see inside one of Old Phuket Town's mansions. The house is in a very run down state. It's beautiful original facade shoes terrible wear and tear, and has an ugly shed built over the right hand side of the facade. The visitor may only see the ground floor, which is furnished, but also shows signs of a desperate need of repair. The garden and the upstairs are not open.
It is down a long driveway next door to the beautiful Phra Phithak Chinpracha Mansion (Blue Elephant). This was the only interior of an historic Old Phuket Town mansion that I was able to see, so it was worth the 150 baht. See it before it falls down!!

It is a private house in which the owners still dwell (on the upper floor - not allowed to visitors).
We checked some details before visiting and knew the right approach - buy tickets and politely ask the owner to give you a private tour :)
And he did .. and we enjoyed it so much.
It is a completely different perspective when you hear the insider family story for every room, every item in it... if you are just a foreign tourist but want to learn something about Phuket history, people, habits and traditions - a good way to start.
Ofcourse, these are former landlords and their perspective is subjective and completely different than of the "little" people, but if you filter this out and just observe the artefacts and glimpse of those times - you will enjoy hour or two in there.
