This beach is amazing. We went during monsoon season so the ocean is much more turned up and you have to be a pretty strong swimmer if you want to go out there (watch out for the undertoe and riptides). But it is still beautiful....More

On the Southern end of the beach there is a spot where you can do plane spotting. It is a little tricky to get here, but just follow the major road and avoid going into the hotel just next to the airport. There are not...More

The beach is right next to the Marriott Phuket Beach Club hotel, and offers amazing sunsets. Need to be careful of the very fast drop into deeper waters and the strong outward currents, so not recommended for those who aren't excellent ocean swimmers.

If you are looking for a quiet place to enjoy a beautiful sunset, Mai Khao beach is the place. Not for swimming (unless you are a confident swimmer). During our visit, first week of May 2017, waves were very strong almost every day, can even...More

We stayed at the JW Marriott near Mai Khao beach. The resort staff is courteous and always ready to please. Some of the restaurant staff could have been a little more attentive to diners. The Marriott breakfast buffet can only be described as a feast...More

mostly on mai khao beach, you can find luxurious hotels and resorts. Accessible from resorts to resorts, but the guests still have their own privacy. The wave is quite high and rough. Each resort puts the red flag as a caution in case the sea...More

Very long golden beach, clean and usually almost empty. One of the best beaches I have seen, highly recommendable. There are some great beachfront resorts - Sala resort and spa, J W Marriott resort and spa, Renaissance. The best is probably Sala.

Hi Gavin, apologies for the late reply, Mai Khao is really far from Patong beach. It is easily an hour drive away. Mai Khao is a place really away from the crowd, with a long stretch of beach to enjoy but it is definitely... More
