Beautiful but Under Restoration!
Jul 2020
Wat Chai Mongkon is beautiful but it is under restoration. The temple is well maintained. The buildings are nice. The stupa is nice outside but acceptable inside.

Restoration almost complete
Jan 2020 • Couples
There is construction work throughout the complex, both major and minor improvements taking place. The many statues have been cleaned and put back into place. The main building is open, where offerings can be made and a blessing given by one of the monks. A wonderful place to spend some quiet time in.

Temple is very beautiful, but the interesting thing is the market opposite the temple because there are a lot of food and things to use. Fresh street foods and fresh fruits

A serene Buddhist oasis and sanctuary in the city of sin, well worth a visit
Mar 2019
Definitely worth a visit: this is the oldest and Royal Buddhist temple in the Pattaya area. It's a 'working' Buddhist temple so monks reside on the 10 acres of land. One of the two main Buddha statues, Buddha Chaimongkol, is from the old Ayutthaya empire and is said to be about 350 years old. You'll also find a market and food stalls in the near vicinity of the temple. Be aware there is a dress code, so cover your legs and shoulders. The entrance was free at the time I visited but a donation is welcome.

Beautiful well maintained temple complex
Dec 2018
We had visited this beautiful well maintained temple during our vacation in Pattaya. We had got down at Bali Hai Pier after our visit to Koh Lan in the afternoon and then visited this beautiful temple complex. From Bali Hai Pier taxi was quoting 200 baht, so we walked to the temple complex located at a distance of 1.2 km. The temple dedicated to Lord Buddha is huge and one has to climb a flight of stairs to enter the place. There was constant chanting of prayers in local language. Remove your shoes and wear modest dress covering your legs, midriff to enter the temple.
We like the beautiful architecture and ambiance of this place which is very well maintained.

Serene and tranquil even although beside a very busy road and market

Enter the gates and view the oldest remple in Pattaya.
It is well frequented place of worship and the benefactors have ensured the building and well psinted and illuminated with lots of animal and bird ornaments.
It is a working temple,so best in the early morning when the monks in their robes are seeking alms.Be blesssed by giving them a bottle of water or juice in their bowl.
Transport is easy ,songtaews pass the door,it will be worth it .

Peaceful Sanctuary in a Buzzing City

Wat Chai is my favourite temple in Pattaya. I would usually visit this monastery whenever I had the chance when I was in the city. The quietness in the monastery attracts me, and it makes one wonder if s/he is really in Pattaya.

Nice Buddhist temple in Pattaya

Nice and authentic Buddhist temple in Pattaya. Great place to visit if you would like to make merit. Monks there will also give your blessings and you can get some amulet if you like.
