Interesting story to this and worth a visit as part of a tour

Taken in as part of a tour round the island you could spend around 15 mins here. Interesting story to the monk before his death dedicating himself to the faith. Nice and peaceful... read more

Just a little temple with the mummified monk. You can't see him well as he is in a glass box. And with a sunny weather, you see only your reflection, unfortunately. In less than 10 minutes, you finish your visit. Plan the visit of it with something else. Or grouped in a tour, that's what we did.

Taken in as part of a tour round the island you could spend around 15 mins here. Interesting story to the monk before his death dedicating himself to the faith. Nice and peaceful there unless a big group show up and was interesting to see him looking like he is just chilling with his sunglasses on. You also need to... More

This was another stop of ours during our Island tour. It's quite a historic site, and worth reading up on it. You only really need a short time here, and don't forget to enter something in the book. I enjoyed the visit, but maybe not everybody's cup of tea.

Unusual and interesting place to visit, A little macabre but not scary for kids. Our young kids were fine with it. Reading some reviews below, I can see how a large or loud crowd would ruin the experience. It was quiet and respectful place when we went and was much better for it. There is a reasonably detailed history plaque... More

Here on our honeymoon so took in lots of sights and tourist attractions. This place is a must see, for us it was because for a small donation you can receive a blessing from a genuine Buddhist Monk. He will provide a blessing ritual then give you a hand made 'good luck' band to wear on your wrist that we... More

The general mummy is a package of dense, but this one is not. Seems existing in another attitude, telling everyone, never say possible or impossible in a single point of view, to accept the past 'impossible' live In front of us.

It's a bit eerie to get close to the glass enclosure and get a real close look of the remains of this monk who passed away but his body has not decayed. These type of events only occur to monks who has enlightened to the point where there's a mystical power involved in their passing like being able to predict... More

Very small temple... not much go see... little information about the monk... It is impressive to see him sit down in the glass urn.

Quite a unique attraction. The monk was born in 1894 and died in 1973 at the age of 79. He is perfectly preserved (apart from his eyes, but has a selection of Raybans etc to compensate!). He sits in a typical yoga pose in a glass case. A local Buddhist Monk is on hand to give you a blessing for... More
