This was one of-if not the top- highlight of our trip through Thailand. You spend a lot of time getting comfortable with the elephants (specifically the one you get assigned to), and a lot of time grooming/cleaning them. The time riding them is slightly less than expected, but it's probably about an hour total, which is actually plenty of time... More

Our teenagers had looked forward to this day for 6 months, and were not disappointed. They loved caring for their own elephant and learning more about these beautiful animals. I also had a great day, and particularly enjoyed the first session, hearing about the purpose of the farm in terms of their 4 goals of Rescue Recovery Reproduction and Reintroduction.... More

Our travel agency booked a trip to Patara Elephant Farm. We had originally wanted to go to Elephant Nature Park, based on other reviews but our Thai agent recommended Patara instead. We were not disappointed. At first we were hesitant to do any elephant excursions because of the horrible treatment some endure. I combed through all the photos of Patara... More

Absolute blast. Was well worth it. I understand some reviewer's comments about animal cruelty but the only impression I got was that they really care for and love the animals.

My wife and I did Southeast Asia for our honeymoon and the half-day trip to Patara had high expectations. Our expectations were completely exceeded. We got picked up at our hotel and 45 minutes later we were feeding and taking pictures with a family of elephants. Getting to see the elephants right away was amazing. After that we then went... We did the half day elephant experience at Patara. It was truly incredible to interact with the elephants in such a natural habitat. The only thing I didn't love which is why I gave it 4 stars and not 5, your ride on the elephants is on a street. I believe for the full day you go in the hills.... More

Get up close and active interacting with elephants. Very good day - be prepared for your legs to be stretched into positions they're not used to etc. Not cheap, but memorable experience

the drive up there was fine, not that long and up a pretty mountain road. upon arrival we immediately got to hang out with a bunch of elephants, feeding, petting, posing, etc. that was the best part. everyone got their own elephant and helper. the helpers spoke very little English so no opportunity to learn from them or have a... Our visit to Paterson Elephant Farm was the most expensive thing we did on a 15 day Southeast Asia vacation and well worth it. You are greeted exuberantly by the staff on arrival and immediately start interacting with a mother and her toddler and infant. You learn a great deal about the elephants and then are assigned your very own... More
