As I stepped pass the gate and looked to my right, a white colonial style building stood there. It looked a bit "stern" and "intimidating". I wasn't sure if we were at the right place. My niece and I went there without any pre-conceived idea. All I told the "red car" driver was to take us to the Lanna Folklife... More

Great to kill some time and cool off in the air con museum. The place gives a good overview of Lanna life as it once was. Check it out, after Chiang Mai's roots is in the Lanna culture.

Very interesting museum about Northern Thai culture. Displays about religion, dress, food, and artistry. Great little museum for an hour or two during a hot afternoon.

Two story museum with some cool displays. However, the descriptions are not all that interesting to engage. Chinese translation gave me laughs as it is probably from google translate, LA translated as Los Angeles.... Not worth recommending

Very skimpy exhibits. Good airconditioning. If you are here for a long time it is something you can do but it is mainly not a good use of time. 100 baht.

If you enjoy going to historical stuff this is the place the be. If you don't know already, Chiang Mai was the capital of the Lanna Kingdom from the late 13th century to the 15th century (before it was annexed by Myanmar) And this was before it become part of Thailand. So the Folklife Musuem gives you an insight to... More

The Lanna Folklife Museum proved a great place to visit: the exhibits illustrate aspects of life in old Lanna, explaining local beliefs and superstitions. The collection of curiously shaped stones and miscellaneous bits and pieces, revered within families for no obvious reason other than that they had seemed worth collecting to ancestors, was very touching.
