You don’t need a great deal of time to wander around this museum but it is certainly worth visiting. You don’t have to pay if you only want to see the ground floor but dual pricing applies for the full building. There’s no point in taking it out on the staff…they don’t make the rules! Dual pricing operates across Thailand so you either pay it or miss out on many many experiences.
The staff are very helpful , some being students at the University and it is really is a fascinating place to visit. Combine it by also visiting the adjacent temple to make a good visitor experience.

Racist place, they charged me double the price because I am not Thai.
Instead of paying 60baht like everyone they tried to charge me 120bht because I am not Thai people.
Disgusting racist behavior.

This single building 'museum' charges more than double for foriegners than Thais, even though its part of Chiang Mai University which just recieved $250,000 from the US government for just such places. Go to the Lanna park just a bit further much better with a 20 baht price for all.

Stunningly restored building and exhibition has been nicely curated. However, there’s not much information in there for what you pay. Instead of having a guide, it would be nicer to bulk up the information displayed.

This is a good place to learn Lanna royal house with 30 minutes.I went their during shopping on Sunday walking street. We pay only 60 Baht and they have Lanna expert to give me many information on Lanna royal history. History of this house with old image and the first floor still have revolving exhibition.

Good if you have time.

This is a beautiful little museum in a house built for Chiang Mai's former rulers and later owned by another prominent local family, before being donated to the Architecture faculty of Chiang Mai University. The building is small and intimate, and contains detailed signage on Chiang Mai's history dating back hundreds of years.

We had a quick guided tour by a very helpful staff member, who seemed well informed, and was happy to answer our questions.

There's certainly scope to improve the museum by furnishing it more fully, but it was definitely a worthwhile 45 minutes.

60 Baht entrance to the traditional Lanna house. Guide or without a guide its up to you. Tour takes about 15mins. Small house but you will know more about the history of traditional Lanna house. Nice tiny coffee shop inside the compound. Toiet available at the back but shoes not allowed, you have to change into their provider rubber slippers.

This was a smaller museum than the Lanna Culture Museum, and had some of the same stuff, but it was still interesting an informative. It was a nice break from the heat and we learned a bit more about the northern Thai people.
