The factory was closed due to a holiday, and that was sad for me. But the showroom is amazing. I was hosted by a lovely woman who explained a great deal about celadon . There are, of course, the usual production pieces...cups, bowls, plates, sauce dishes...., each of which was beautiful. However, the individually painted and larger pieces were what amazed me. One of a kind! So intricate! Also, they have several tables of "seconds" behind the show, but I couldn't tell those from the first quality pieces! This place is well worth a long visit, and perhaps you'll be able to get a peek into the factory.

The work is of exquisite quality. The store has two parts one is a full showroom and the second is an outdoor area with seconds. Those who work there are very helpful and speak excellent English. The can easily ship purchases. Worth a detour!

We visited Celadon as part of our day visiting the artisan area East of Chiang Mai.
First we visited the worshops to see the prep and decoration of various items, the detail and intricate painted designs were fabulous, the guide gave us lots of detail.
We then went to the showroom filled with everything from 'moulded' items from a few baht to pinted and gold leaf decorated large items at thousands of baht.
The problem was that we wanted to buy so much, it's really fabulous stuff.
The staff were excellent in showing us around, we were even given a very refreshing glass of iced lemongrass tea
Highly recommended, combine it with the silk, umbrella and silver artisan places on the same road

We were captivated by the colours and designs of the pottery here. Having fallen in love with celadon in Chiang Mai from another producer, we wanted to see what was on offer from other manufacturers. Wow - this is the best we have seen, really top-notch ceramics. The everyday pottery was gorgeous enough, with lovely greens and blues and some quite intricate patterns. But the hand-painted individual pieces - larger vases, pots and jars - were truly exquisite, with thier designs painted in a variety of pure jewel-like colours. The quality is echoed in the price, and sadly we found that our budget didn't stretch to one of these hand-painted objects, but we left happy with two lovely coffee mugs in a leaf design. Recommended as a place to shop for a special present that you don't mind spending a bit more for.

Something that really impressed us, beside the quality of the ceramics, was the calm atmosphere of the showroom, where there is no hard sell but a very friendly sales lady who helped us in our browsing, while never pushing. We ended up swapping children stories, with her taking me out the back to see pictures of her daughter. A pleasant shopping experience!

I have always wanted good celadon, and I got it. Loved the workshop and showroom at Baan. The showroom has fixed prices, and carries both heirloom and everyday celadon. No pressure to buy, and an area for tired kids/husband to sit while I shopped. I bought a 5-cup pitcher, small tray, and 6 small cups for 3900 THB. Love them! They pack things very well; doorman dropped my luggage and everything was intact.

Before coming to CM for my summer stay, I was not familiar with Celadon. I just knew it was some kind of pottery my family wanted me to bring back. My homestay family recommended Baan Celadon as a good place to go since they ship their products all over the world. Looking through the windows before I went in, it looked like an art gallery and I thought, "wow this is going to be way out of my price range". And though there are a fair amount of pricey items, there are just as many beautiful and affordable pieces, some as low as a couple hundred baht.

Customer service exceeded my expectations, very generous and knowledgeable on history of Celadon (plus they serve savory lemongrass iced tea while you browse). I was really intrigued by some of the pieces and ended up purchasing more than I wanted to carry, so decided to ship. They took such care in carefully packaging each piece, photographing everything that was being shipped, and finding affordable shipping options. A couple days later I receive an email from the woman who was helping me to let me know everything had shipped, along with the attached postal receipt, and requesting that I contact her should anything arrive damaged.

It was an overall great experience with a wonderful staff. And although I am no Celadon expert, I feel that I found numerous unique pieces I know my friends and family will appreciate. Absolutely worth a visit!

This pottery was beautiful. There is a huge selection depending on what you would like. There are very beautiful "pieces of art", beautifully handpainted, or lovely pieces that are microwave and oven proof. Most items are green or blue. There are lovely tea sets, casserole dishes, bowls, various mugs, tea cups, bathroom accessories, vases, wine glasses and the list goes on. The prices vary as well depending on the design and work involved so there is something for most budgets. If you like pottery or art, you will enjoy a visit here!

A stop on an afternoon shopping tour. We were able to see the workshops which added perspective to our showroom visit. Most of the products are a traditional celadon green color (a lovely, restful light bluish-green) with different-colored accents: vases, figurines, candle holders, all kinds of tableware, ... Just wandering through the showroom was a treat. Prices ranged from very reasonable on up.

You firstly go into a small demo factory as see them make the wares. Then you go into another showroom and you see the ladies actually hand painting on FREEHAND the designs and etching out the carvings. Amazing attention to detail and these ladies were so talented. I know why they charge so much now as it is all hand made.....
There is the normal expensive type shop and then to the left is the 2nds shop. That was where I found the most amazing vase for around $100, it was beautiful and I couldn't find the fault. Other items in there just have a slight white dot or something unknown to the untrained eye. We also bought an elephant cup and some elephants. I wish I had bought more, but luggage just does not allow it...
The expensive type shop is quite scary as you know if you bump into something, it could cost you a fortune! scary with kids!
I am going to search the internet and see if they can mail me some items.

I can't comment on the pricing as this was the first Celadon we had seen but the environment was very conducive to browsing- very serene. Lovely staff, no pressure to buy( but of course I did as I rather like pottery- after all a girl can never have too much??!) and refreshing chilled lemongrass tea to cool down. The prices are fixed and some beautiful pieces on offer. The children enjoyed watching the potter in the factory, at the back of the shop, on his wheel and the artists carving and painting the pottery.
Everything was beautifully packaged up in bubble wrap.
