Khamthiang Market is a gem in Chiang Mai. The hidden-away flower market offers a wide variety of flora and fauna and is right next to the Lotus Supermarket. It is a great place to see where locals shop for flowers.

The first thing I must clarify, is that Khamthiang is not a flower market. It is a garden nursery, selling an immense range of plants, gardening accessories, and garden ornaments - most of them bordering on the totally kitsch. Do not come here expecting to buy a bunch of cut flowers. I live in Rayong, 900 km south of Chiang... More

We went to the Tescos nearby to get some shopping and had a wander around here. It was nice to look at the different types of plants they grow in Thailand, there was a nice cafe that served lovely food and drink too.

We live in Chiang Mai and if we need some fresh flowers or something for our garden then off we go to Kamthieng Flower Market. There are also some shops selling aquariums and fish ponds. It is a wide ranging collection of independent shops that together make up a huge gardening centre. It is not designed as a tourist attraction... More

This flower market is a privately owned project. One can walk here for hours. Every thing is for sale and available. The styles of things on sale range from classy to a bit like pink flamingos. One can find lots of garden and irrigation supplies. Prices seem prettyreasonable if one is picky.

Doesn't matter what you want, they will have it there somewhere ! The people who sell are really helpful. You'll find posh potting soil from Germany, 15 different kinds of turf, orchids, bromeliads, fruit trees, waterfalls, rakes, paving slabs, topiary outlines, wind chimes, annuals, perennials, seeds, seedlings coming on.... really a marvelous place. Places for cups of tea and coffee... More

My wife wanted to see this as our hotel receptionist specifically mentioned it and it sounded like it would be a mass of colours in an open area. It's actually just a collection of individual florist stores/stalls - great if you want to buy a bouqet, but not much to look at. Basically, great for locals to buy flowers, pretty... More

A "Flower Market" is a misnomer. But one thing that the Kamthieng Flower Market is, is that it's a wonderfully breathtaking super-large place to stock your garden from. IT'S A GIANT NURSERY. Be your garden large or small they've got it all (except for cut flowers). Oh well... Not disappointing at all.

We were not sure what we would find at this place but we are keen gardeners and thought we would give it a try. Rows of smaller nurseries which have a very wide range of plants ranging from tropical through to some Australian plants. You can get a coffee there as well if you like. Relaxing and interesting. Wish we... More

Hundreds of small shops clustered together in one convenient location just behind Tesco Lotus. Everything for the garden enthusiast is on offer, you could spend hours walking around this place and not see everything, but it is very well laid out, and the store owners are very helpful and knowledgeable, and they don't hassle you. The purpose of my visit... More

Since I had never been to a flower market, seeing the flower market in Chiang Mai was a treat. There are many flowers displayed that you would not see in the U.S.
