I used to live about ten minutes from here and loved to take my girlfriend, rent one of the huts on the lake shore, and have lunch. The restaurants own the little huts and rent is very cheap. Something like $2 US for as long as you care to stay. Eat, have a beer, relax, and just enjoy a nice,... More

This place is so perfect scenic, and a nice drive out of Chiang Mai to get to. There's a minimal cost to enter the park, but then you can drive around before settling down in a little hut sitting over the water and have authentic thai food brought to you. It's a great place to relax and chill out, and... More

☘Although not a protected area, Huay Tueng Tao offers an easy short day's birding conveniently close to Chiang Mai. The area belongs to the military, is sometimes used for training exercises, and a few areas have restricted access. As it is used primarily as a recreation area, it can be busy with fishermen, picnickers, runners, cyclists, ATV riders and zip-liners... More

Some friends took me to Huay Tung Gao Lake, about 5 km. North of Chiang Mai city proper, just about 2 weeks ago. It was the height of the hot temperatures so we went at about 8 a.m. Admission for foreigners is now B50; for Thais B 20. You have to pay to get in but it was worth it.... More

A great picnic place, mainly for locals. Arrived in the late afternoon and driving around the lake. There are many shelters around the edge of the lake.

I'm an outdoors-men, if there's something that I can do while experiencing nature I choose that most of the time during the day (can't forget about the nightlife). This was a little more pricey than I thought (about 1600 THB) but it was worth every satang as my heart was pumping and wind was flowing through my helmet. Definitely a... More

Very chill place to relax for a day. The water is not the most clean but the environment is great. Needed a swim and i try to avoid pools.

We went at about 1pm and it was hot. However, we got ourselves a little hut and it feel cooling in the hut. We can even order food at cheap prices. Great place to chill out like a local. We seem to be the only tourist there and there were lots of locals there.

Our Tuk Tuk driver took us to Huay Tung Tao Lake for a little respite from the heat and we thought the lake was truly lovely. It was quite obvious that it was a place frequented by locals to enjoy picnic lunches or a swim in the lake. It was really enjoyable watching families and especially the children frolicking in...
