After searching high and low we found a really good value elephant sanctuary which included transfers, interaction and feeding the elephants and getting in the river and bathing with the elephants. Tom our guide was absolutely amazing, we had such a fun day out was a very surreal feeling. Tom was very patient and encouraging to my 8 year old son who was very nervous and apprehensive, he was continuously making him feel at ease and my son began to love the experience and felt confident enough to touch and feed the elephants. I had so many questions about the elephants and Tom was so knowledgeable and answered all of them. The elephants here are so loved and cared for and treated with such respect. Tom was always there to take pictures for us on our own phones I didn’t even have to ask, I really liked this as no extra costs were expected but because he was so epic we gave a tip anyway. Tom is an asset to your team and a brilliant tour guide. Highly enjoyable experience thanks for making our holiday!

I booked this trip and formed a group of 12 in a minibus which took us to the sanctuary. Great fun feeding and touching the elephants, also making up some of their food into balls. Some of the group went into the water with the elephants when it was their bath time

The Kanta Elephant sanctuary was the highlight of our Asia travels. The animals were amazing. We feed the elephants bananas and vitamin balls which we made for them. Bathing the elephants was a fun task. The baby elephant sprayed us with water so we enjoyed a bath as well. The tour guide spoke English well and helped us take pictures and videos with the elephants. I highly recommend visiting the sanctuary. It will be a memorable experience!

This was truly a once in a lifetime experience. We were up close, and very personal with these beautiful and majestic animals. It’s clear right from the beginning that you don’t go to this sanctuary for a photo op or Instagram post. Our guide, encouraged us to get our hands dirty, and become very friendly with our hosts by feeding them, making their food, walking the grounds and giving them a scrub in the pond.

If you are looking to ride an elephant (you shouldn't be) this is not the sanctuary for you. If you want to support domesticated elephants that have come from hard working and inappropriate environments this is the sanctuary for you. The elephants appear to all be very well cared for by individual caregivers. We did a full day visit including learning about the elephants, preparing and then feeing them various foods such as sugar cane and vitamin balls, and finally washing them in the river. This was an once in a lifetime amazing experience. Great fun and something to remember! Tom (the lead guide) was inspirational in his enthusiasm and insight into caring for the retired elephants. The centre was well organised, providing a change of clothes (you may get covered in elephant snot, mud etc), towels, showers, changerooms, drinks and a good veggie lunch. We'd recommend supporting this sanctuary and the work they are doing.

How anyone can cause harm to these amazing beasts is beyond me, and the Kanta Elephant Sanctuary makes sure that the elephants that they look after, 17 at present have a fantastic life. You meet the elephants, feed them, prepare their tasty treats, and then bathe them wearing clothes provided for you. A fantastic experience and day out. Highly recommend.

Amazing experience. Woody, the guide, was excellent and had brilliant english. Really well organised experience covering a number of activites with the elephants. Good clean showers and sitting areas.
