I heard about this school from a Thai chef I follow on Twitter. I reached out through email and the manager was quick to get back to me. Even though I had a compressed schedule, they were able to fit me in. Note that this space is small, and only accommodates six students, so plan ahead.
First off - this is not a tourist-focused school. I was the only non-Thai in attendance. The class was conducted in Thai, but one of the staff was on hand to translate the instructions and all of my questions. They were very patient with me.
The idea of the school is to rediscover traditional Thai cooking, completely from the ground up. We made Massaman Curry and Roti. I had no idea that his was considered a bit of an "advanced" curry, but that made it even more rewarding. Interestingly, when I asked the locals next to me how they made curry at home, they answered that they usually "cheat" and buy curry paste.
The class started with a demonstration in the main room of how to make the dishes. Every step was done, including toasting whole spices, grinding in a mortar and pestle, etc. No ready-made ingredients or short cuts. At the end of the demonstration, we all tasted the results. Note that you're given a written recipe and pencil to take as many notes as you want.
After that, we donned aprons and headed to the back room, which is open to the outside, but covered. Our stations were set up with everything we'd need, and there were 3 helpers to watch out for us and correct our mistakes. They were incredibly gracious and warm, and I really appreciated their pointers.
Grinding with a mortar and pestle by hand is exhausting work - prepare for a workout if you're making curry. But it's worth it when you smell the amazing fragrances coming out of freshly toasted spices. Watching the dish come together piece by piece was really rewarding, and learning how each seasoning could be adjusted was really helpful. Once again, the staff came by constantly to watch and assist as needed.
At the end, we all got to taste the result of our work back in the dining room (which is gloriously air conditioned). It was fun to taste the other students' work as well. All in all, a really fantastic experience that I strongly recommend, as long as you're willing to work for it, and don't mind the fact that class is in Thai. For me, it was really great to be with local home cooks, and get their advice as well. I learned from the other students as well. A+

Couldn’t speak highly enough of our experience at Bangkok Bold Kitchen. From beginning to end, it was filled with hospitality, willingness to answer every minute question and a perfectly set atmosphere that made you forget you were in a big mall. Noi’s command of the English language is great (she lived in the US for many years), which makes the communication fluid at all times. And of course, the quality of the dishes was superb; at the same level of great restaurants in town, the dish we prepared was even better that a similar version we tried the night before at Nahm, which gives you an idea of the quality of the food. I give the whole experience a 5 star rating.

I've eaten at the newly opened restaurant at Riverside Plaza twice in the last month and its great. The service is efficient and friendly. The menu isn't huge but there's plenty to keep you interested. The crab and coconut relish served with crispy rice crackers was fantastic. I also had the best green curry I think I've ever had in Thailand. It was served with fermented rice noodles and a whole array of vegetables and herbs. The Khao Soy also won plaudits from my friends. The desserts are good. I opted for the coconut ice whilst my friends chose the pandan cake with coconut cream which was huge and delicious. The sticky rice treats wrapped in pandan leaves are also delicious. Go there and fill your boots!

The Chef in Charge comes from the ex Four Seasons Bangkok Spice Market restaurant. Passionate about cooking he/she decided to open her own place. Location close to the royal palace is interesting for tourists. The food authentic Thai and authentic spiced. The venue is a Thai Shophouse with a fine balance of morgen yellow walls and authentic bricks. Need to bring your own alcohol as they have no liquor license. Good experience. Been twice as a guest. May take friends but in doubt if it really beats other places in BKK with a view. One thing is for Sure. Bold focused on the food!

Friends who live in Bangkok had heard of this place and my friend and I went with them in December to celebrate a birthday. 7 of us. the food was out of this world. the whole experience was. Such a beautiful building, staff were fantastic. It was a very special unique evening. Will not forget it and will certainly go again when in Bangkok and recommend it to everyone I know who is visiting!

I have been to Thailand 3o plus times over 25 years, written two books on the topic and these are the people I learn from. Khun Ning (with a PhD in Thai Gastronomy) has been a teacher of mine for 15 years (along with her mom who cooked for the queen) and i recently spent a couple of days in the kitchen with the rest of the Bangkok Bold team and they are each so talented. Chef Nhoi is Thai with USA education and hence very knowledgable and amazing english skills, Chef Bank can create matched Thai flavors. Chef Ann is a talented chef with decades of experience. Go for a class or sit back and enjoy an evening Chefs Table and interact with the charming team.

Loved my day at this Thai cooking school. All the staff were great, the instructor was great and the facilities were clean, wonderfully cool and nicely appointed. We made and ate 4 dishes and enjoyed every one of them although I was very partial to the Panang Curry. Take a taxi to the location but perhaps carry a map for your driver as the location is new and the driver had a bit of a problem finding it. Keep in mind that you will be taking food home with you, delicious food. Next time I hope to go to a demonstration dinner where you just watch and eat and eat.

I have to say that Bangkok Bold Cooking School is the best ever that served Authentic traditional thai food. We have made a famous and royal thai cuisine. It was fun and education. Lovely clean place, nice ingredients and friendly teacher. The school was not difficult to find and not far away from the tourist attraction that we could travel around the city. I'm strongly recommended this place and don't miss this place before you die!. P.S. please reservation in advance

Hi. I had your delicious rice cakes with coconut/crab dipping sauce last week. I have returned home. Is there any chance of getting the recipe?

Hi BKK Bold Cooking Studio,
A Thai friend recommended your cooking studio for my first experience in Thai cooking. I would need to join a group since I am in BKK by myself and can only attend on weekends. What can you recommend for me? Also, how do I reach you location. Skytrain? River Taxi, or regular taxi? I am staying near Chidloem Skytrain. Thank you! Maryanne
