The area
Address
Neighbourhood: Thong Lor & Ekamai
Known as Bangkok’s hippest neighbourhood, Thong Lor and Ekamai is where the city's well-dressed and well-heeled spend their nights sipping cocktails in hidden speakeasies and posh restaurants. Live it up in one of Thong Lor's extravagant clubs and be prepared to brush shoulders with a Thai celebrity or two. While great for a night out, the area is nothing short of interesting during the daytime, either. Expect a mix of savvy coffee shops, pop-up bars and loads of vintage stores, brought to you by hip locals with eyes for design.

Good food at a low price and friendly service! Its a nice option if you want something in between streetfood and a classic restaurant, plus you can have Thai food as well as other cuisines. Seemed to us like a mixture of tourists and Thai people come here. We had the Thai and Indian food, which both was very tasty.

I have been a Bangkok regular for 37 years and only found this place this year. Go to Phra Kanong on the Skytrain and walk south to the end of the Sky Walk, then 2 more Sois down. 1 Soi back from the main road is what they call W District.
Some people say this is a market, but in reality it is an outdoor seating area surrounded by various food outlets, Greek, Indian, Mexican etc.
All remarkably cheap and as far as my experience goes, remarkably good and cheap. You can sit outside or try one of the bars, Kosmos is a stand out venue as it has a fair selection of import beers far cheaper than anywhere else, Vedett is a premium beer sold at twice the price elsewhere.
If you are on your own, it's a great place for a sensible drink and a meal, with friends it's a cheap and enjoyable night out at bargain prices.
A little off the beaten track, but worth the effort to seek it out.

Probably not everyones cup of tea but for me it was. Open area surrounded by food kiosks. Table service for drinks which you pay after you order after they arrive at the table. A lot of choices of food to eat. I have tried the Thai food which is very spicy, which I love. There is also a good little Mexican place which I like as well. Have to go there at night as this is when is is up and about

Not sure why this place is popular. Huge tourist/foreigner trap. Thai locals do not go here.

Here's the run down:
1) Disgustingly dirty. Not a place I would want to eat a meal. Tables nasty. Cockroaches everywhere.
2) Expensive. For the value it is quite a bit more expensive than most options in BKK.
3) The design of the place is terrible. The stalls are in a circle and the seats are in the middle. Which is basically like a ring of ovens around you. It is super hot and uncomfortable compared to other markets in BKK.
4) Hard to find a table/overcrowded. The tables are jammed together and you will be 100% breathing in your neighbors cigarette smoke.
5) They wouldn't let me in because I bought a water just before coming in at 711. SERIOUSLY? This was so annoying. I am coming in to spend 600 baht on some crappy Indian food and you won't let me in because of a water bottle? Even worse, once in, they hunt you down. I grabbed my water I hid in my bag to take a drink and the lady came running over to me yelling at me. 1000 baht fine! Seriously god...
6) The food I had was absolutely awful. Now I am sure there is some good food there, but my experience was terrible. The Indian restaurant (in back left) was terrible Indian (first time having bad Indian), and the guy cheated us on our bill (on purpose..I think he does it a lot, as most foreigners there are drunk and don't pay attention).

Any positives? Variety of food I suppose. But this is BKK, you can get great international food everywhere downtown.

If you fancy eating it then im pretty sure you will find it here on one of the stands. I had the Jamaican, others in the group had Greek, and Thai. Something you have to experience for yourself.

I went here last night for my last dinner in Bangkok and enjoyed it. I ordered some noodle dish with squid but got a noodle dish with prawn which was still nice, and spring rolls. A nice Pepsi to wash it down. Reasonabally priced but not street food price that's for sure.

This place has such a variety of meals on offer, everyone will find something they like. Our table ranged from Japanese to Jamaica food with American, Thai and Italian thrown in as well.
A drinks server will come to your table and take an order. For food you go up to the different counters to order.
Some places take payment when ordering, others at the table when they serve the food.
There is some cover from light rain, but if it's heavy rain I suggest you go else where.
