There is a tall and very beautiful pagoda. There is also a very large Buddha image. On the ground floor there are displays of ancient objects that are hard to find. It is a very magnificent temple. I was not disappointed at all when I came here. The atmosphere was very good. Traveling is convenient.

One of the newest Temples in Bangkok and very impressive. I'm a sucker for temples and this Buddha statue is amazing.
Don't forget to visit all floors so you don't miss out on all artifacts on display and the Emerald statue on top floor.

Wat Paknam is a temple founded in 1610. The characteristic feature of this religious object is a giant Buddha statue - 69 meters high and 40 wide. Wat Paknam and Wat Paknam on the Bang Luang River are names that began to appear in historical records in the late 18th century. Paknam means "lock in canal" and refers to the location of the temple. Later, it was practically abandoned and interest in it declined. In the first half of the 20th century, it was thoroughly renovated and became widely known. This is a great merit of the abbot - it was Luang Pu Sodh. From a temple with only thirteen monks, he turned it into a thriving center of education and practice. The place is now famous for promoting Dhammakaya meditation, and monks and lay teachers are engaged in it. Activities also include charitable causes such as educational, construction and many other projects.

The temple is beautiful and each of my visits to this place brought a lot of impressions.

My mom and I went to Wat Paknam Phasi Charoen for a special event. The big Buddha and Pagoda were huge and well designed. We donated money and made wishes. The temple was quiet and peaceful on weekdays. You could take MRT to Bang Phai MRT station and walk to Wat Paknam. There are boats for klong tours near the temple.

Amazing, get your first glimpse from the MRT, (get off at Bang Phai), take some pictures from the station then wander for 10 minutes through the pretty alleyways and along the canal intersection before going in. Knees and shoulders should be covered. It's a working temple and when I went on a Saturday at 4pm a ceremony was just finishing up. It was interesting to see all the comings and goings and offerings, not just flowers and fruit, but umbrellas hung with 1000 baht notes, packs of toiletries for the monks, fresh robes, sacks of onion and garlic...the basic necessities. I was the only foreigner that I saw in 2 hours. There are 2 highlights. What draws you is the giant Buddha statue, bigger than the reclining Buddha at Wat Pho, but the highlight for me was the inside of the Chedi (stupa). Different from any others I've seen.
When you've had enough, go left at the main exit, follow the road out, left again, on a bit, another left and cross the wee bridge. It'll take you to Wat Khun Chan. If Wat Pak Nam is understated elegance, albeit of gargantuan proportions, Way Khun Chan is all about glitter and colour and dragons and a whole menagerie of wonderful, colourful creatures. Walk through and out the other side, and stop for a cold drink at the little local shop with stone tables and benches you'll see on your right. Give some business to the locals! You can afford it after not paying an entrance fee for the temples. If it's nearly dinner time, walk for another 7 or 8 minutes to the food market near Talat Phlu BTS station. Clean, busy, best street food in the city. Buy what you fancy from one of the dozens of food stalls and eat at the tables provided. Don't be put off by Street food, it's delicious and, fresher than what you're getting in AC restaurants with menus that run to 20 pages. If they sells 3 things, they do them well, they sell everything the same day, and start again the next. A great day out!

I was a monk at Wat Paknam Phasi Charoen years ago. My mom took me to the temple when I was young. Today I went for the funeral of a great monk. Wat Paknam is peaceful and beautiful!
