This is a giant imposing structure in Silom area and I found this while walking around during my stay at Novotel Bangkok Silom Road hotel. I found many young boys and girls using this beautiful building as the background for photo shoot. Inside the building, one section is the active post office in a huge hallway while another section is a small Museum which showcase the coronation of Kings.

Spent a couple hours here looking at the exhibits and visiting the cafe and the look out point. This is a modern and well kept facility which is worthy of a visit. I especially enjoyed the King exhibit which shows the various kings of Bangkok's history. What I probably enjoyed more than anything else is the area of the Grand Postal Building is close to some chic and eclectic shops close to the Sheraton Hotel on the river which was the highlight of the day. However, while you're in the area it's worth dropping in the Grand Postal Building for a while to look around.

The former main postal building of Bangkok, this pre-war building is really impressive and is one example of European architecture along Charon Krung Road.
There is a small real post office on the right side.

Built in neoclassical style, this large building was turned into postal museum, which is rather average at best (it still does offer regular postal services though). Entry is free of charge. On side, there’s some art exhibition, not necessarily connected to post in general.

This was originally the General Post Office Building, meaning the main building in Bangkok. It was closed, and renovated and made into an exhibition center. It also has 2 upscale restaurants at either end. It is a very large and long building. With the renovations and restoration of the building, it is quite impressive and beautiful all lit up at night. You will have no reason to go there, unless to an event. It is not close to the water and there is a school and buildings behind it, so any link to any hotel is part of a city plan to build a river walk, which if you know Thai politics, is a pipe dream. The Chao Praya is a smelly dirty river, hardly a place for a walkway. If you do go down for a look, if you pull in on your left all the way back, there is a French Culinary School, where you can get a very good meal and bakery, served by culinary students.

Grand Postal Building located on a one-way street of Charoenkrung relatively near to Chaophya River. There are great potential that this building will be utilized as part of the walking street linking the hotels on the riverside. On the immediate proximity, there are the Royal Orchid Sheraton, the Mandarin Oriental, and the Shangri-La Hotels. Linking the 3 major hotels with some type of a walking street by using the Grand Postal Building as an anchor building will enhance the whole riverside area. Eventually some brave entrepreneur will proceed with the concept and cut through the red-tape with the governmental and non-governmental authorities and make use of this grand old building.

this is an interesting reuse of a grand building near the river in central Bangkok. The architecture is very uncommon for Bangkok. It is a good place to hold events and parties ranging in size. The interiors could have been made a little more interesting but none the less it is somewhere different to do a corporate event
