I used to live in one of the Onnut condos (LPN Sukhumvit 77, Onnut Soi 3 and 5) which stands about 800 m down Klong Prakhanong's starting pier, whose daily flow was part of the highlight of my 10 years' stay in that condo. Now I'm living in yet another LPN condo located along SeanSaep (Asoke - Bangkapi line), which is also good, although I've never tried it - just looking. I'm originally from Matsue city in JPN, which is also called
"Venice(-like town) of the Orient", offering the boat rides (safer version than BKK's) exclusively for tourism purpose. My life seems to have been evolving with and along these Klongs.

Who like to do a boat trip on a simple dirty Klinger like that. No nice view, no nature. It gives a lot more nicer places to do a boat trip in Thailand!

Khlong Phra Khanong was the canal used for the sunset cruise 40 years ago. The life style along the Khlong or canal gave a country-side life style that appreciated by visitors. On the way, there was a stop in a Thai house which serve local drink mixed with Thai whiskey if desired. The sunset cruise was popular with certain nationalities like the Australian. Lately due to the traffic getting to Phra Khanong became more unpredictable, the tour was discontinued. However a ride in the canal in the late afternoon still present an opportunity to see the other side of the city. Try it if you are in the area.
