Ping pong shows, monkey blow jobs, fried scorpions bug spiders etc, clubs, street food vendors everywhere and alcohol vendors everywhere. Must have an open mind to fully embrace this. Stayed there for about 3 hours and had a blast. The street never sleeps!

Plenty of bars, restaurants, vendor stalls, and full with newbie tourists hanging out. Also popular with backpackers who stay in and around Khao San Road. Plenty of cheap rooms are available, although I would personally not stay there. Worth a look if you have never been there before, but once is enough. But in my case the 2nd time in... More

This place is bonkers! It is constantly changing throughout the day. In the morning, the whole street is full of taxi's, that's it, just taxi's. By lunch, it is full of market stalls. Be careful not to get into any scams at this point. People try to sell things that you don't want and will pester you none stop. Be... More

This place is interesting to visit; though for shopping I got the impression that it is also a wholesale area. There are some bars and cafes for tourists but the look of the road is quite authentic. I am not sure what to recommend to do there, I went following the revommendation of a thai friend, but I found it... More

Visit Khao San Road to book a short trip. Walked the street and found that is a place where people who travel on a tight budget can easily find a place to stay for little money. I did not feel safe though.

It's nice for nightlife, there is plenty of bars, restaurants and shops. But there is a lot of tourists and locals know it : it is very expensive and almost everyone talks with you in order to sell you sonething, be aware of tuktuk and travel agencies

With Rege amount of hostels nearby Khao San Road is the place in Bangkok with more foreigners hanging out. With you want to meet other travellers and share experiences this is the place to go.

Staying in Banglamphu

Neighbourhood Profile
Banglamphu
While you’ll see skyscrapers in most parts of Bangkok, it’s the gilded roofs of ancient pagodas that adorn the skyline of Banglamphu, the city’s historical and most touristic district. Hordes of tourists flock to this area to tick quite a few must-see attractions off their to-do list, with the Grand Palace being the most spectacular of them all. Banglamphu is also home to Bangkok’s infamous tourist ghetto, centered around Khao San Road. Visit at night to feast on road-side pad thai, cheap beers and if you’re up for it, some dancing fueled by buckets of Thai whiskey.
