So much to see- took 2 hours to go round the whole zoo. The enlcosures allow you to get very close to the animals, and give you a great view. Definatley worth the 150 baht entry fee.

It's an Asian zoo, so don't expect western size cages! But it's clean and most animals seems quite happy! Feeding hippos is really thrilling;-) we had a great afternoon there!

Went to the zoo, a little hesitantly, after reading mixed reviews. Overall the reviews were right, I have very mixed feelings. There was a good variety in the exhibits. Although it seemed a little more run down than I was expecting for a city as large as Bangkok. Some of the cages were small and poorly lit. The otters were... More

It's just regular zoo. Nice place to walk around with family or friends. Really nice for children. If you want you can spend there even half a day. Don't expect too much.

After visiting many other zoos around the world we went here early in the morning, the place smelt of excrement, all of the animals kept in small cages, very run down, many appeared to be distressed, the hippo's were very sad to see they had absolutely no water in their enclosure. We left after 30 mins, this place needs some... More

We went to the Zoo and were pleasantly surprised to find quite a nice Zoo . Apart from the usual Animals the Zoo has a central Lake where you can hire a paddle boat cheaply and have some fun. There is a Hop on Hop off train and a Restaurant and Bar on the Lakeside that serves pretty good food... More

If you love the cat family then this zoo has the variety on display. It is not a large zoo so you can see all the animals within a couple of hours. They wanted extra for the seal show which we were not prepared to pay. There was supposed to be an acrobatic show which was advertised on our entry... More

there seems to be a funding shortage here I have heard the bangkok zoo was of world standard but was very disappointed, there was no water for the hippo's and the big cats looked hungry.

We are family with children aged 4 and 10 and we liked this zoo. It is big, they have good variety of animals (giraffes, zebras, monkeys, tigers, sea lions etc) and lots of places, where you can have some shade. We also watched sea lion show, but comparing with similar shows (for example in Loro Park Tenerife), it was not... More

A little bit of a letdown but perhaps that's cause we just visited the Singapore zoo a few days ago. The zoo had a lot of construction going on and about 25% of the visits were empty. A number of the animals cages/habitats looked somewhat neglected. For example, the hippo areas water level was extremely low and dirty. Not horrible... More

Staying in Dusit

Neighbourhood Profile
Dusit
When wandering around the Dusit Palace grounds, you'd almost forget you're still in a Southeast-Asian city. The Renaissance-style buildings and leafy gardens wouldn't be out of place in an European capital, and the serenity here is in stark contrast with the chaotic city life outside of its complex walls. Dusit is one of Bangkok's oldest districts, and while the rest of Bangkok is modernising at a rapid pace, Dusit seems to have stood the test of time. Come here to find family businesses in traditional shophouses, small-scale local markets and streets unfazed by modern city life.
