Book a taxi it’s better and cheaper than a tour.
A really enjoyable journey or do bring punted around the floating village. Some stalls clearly souvenir cheap stuff but some great boats with street food and nice fruit etc to buy. Need to direct your boat guide to where and what you want. A good time though snd recommended. Booked a taxi to take us to this and then the floating market and much more cost affective for two people than a tour.

    Great experience
We had a lovely time with our host Sunny. He was very informative and funny. He made sure we were always comfortable, offering water to keep us cool. There isn’t a breeze that blows through the market, so wear something cool. Visiting the markets is something you have to do once.

    Fun, genuine market
Don't go to the other two very popular and touristy and very far away ones. There are quite a number of more genuine ones where there are more locals than tourists and so much nearer. Khlong Lat Mayom is definitely the one to go to for food. It is open on weekends and public holidays. Just visited it on 26 Feb 2023 which is a Monday and public holiday. The entrance hides the fact that the market is quite big as the it is very long compared to its width. Easily 100 stalls or more! Don't miss it.

From first point of contact staff are efficient & friendly. The boats are so much fun, fast too. Most of the fun is bartering with the locals.

For personal reasons we avoided the tours with the drugged animals such the elephants, monkeys & large Cats!

Locals are super friendly. It’s great value for the dollar, plus it’s the people making money. We only used cash that way they get it all!

We looked at organised tours going to various markets but opted to do this under our own steam. Not sure why people would want to travel up to 2 hours way to other markets when this one is very accessible via MRT and a free shuttle.

Trip Advisor shows it as open every day. It is not. It’s only open at weekends. Have reported it to TA so hope they update timings to avoid a wasted trip.

Don't expect a clean water floating market. But you will find good food at the local market. Try prawns and murrels here. You can also get cheaper local souvenirs here.

I went to river market, but it was not a nice experience. It should be called a fleece market, where they fleece you in market. First it cost about £50 a private boat ride. It is Thailand, not Dubai. Then it is stops every 1min at the stalls. It would be ok, but the stalls are so expensive. Crazy expensive. One painting 60cm x 40xm cost £300, this is thai labour. seriously, Even my kid charge only £120. Asia countries are using high Western price at Asia low price labour. It should have been nice, but not nice, the river was dirty, like river thames, so if you drop into it, then you are in trouble. It was stop stop stop per stalls, we really got embrassed and fed up. It is like one of those tours to force buy, when i wanted to see views on a boat.
