A museum cum residence that you should not miss, located in the city centre behind Siam Paragon and Siam Kempinski Hotel. It is still home to Thailand's Crown Princess. The grounds are beautifully manicured, populated with numerous local plants and trees. The exhibitions depict life in the royal palace over the past century. There is also a restaurant served by the palace staff. Reservations are required for both venues. Entry fee is 150 baht.

The Queen Savang Vadhana Museum is housed in Sra Pathum palace, formerly in use as the Royal residence of Queen Savang Vadhana, grandmother of King Ananda Mahidol and King Bhumibol Adulyadej, the Museum exhibited history about them when they was young a lot of lovely history, beautiful garden !

Visited -Jan'2013-
5 mins.walk from Siam Kempinski Hotel (via Siam Paragon Mall).
Ask the Hotel's Concierge for direction, they will kindly oblige.
Charge -100 baht ($4 Sin).
An intimate view of how the mother and grandmother of the present Thai King lived.
Very interesting anecdotes of royal life in those days (80+ years ago ) when the present King was a kid.
Its worth a visit for royalists and Thai Cultural aficionados .Bangkok has more to offer besides the cheap shopping .

Best museum in town

We were so surprised to find this hidden gem with a little help of someone working at siam kempenski (super hotel). Normaly only open from october to march (and after reservation) we were lucky to find it open in april still and had the honour to be guided by jenna who gave us the best explanation. We were the only tourists, only thai people visiting this beautiful house. You pay 150 bath for a guided tour and audio guide in english. You get to visit a big part of the house that is beautifuly decorated with a lot of original furniture, pictures and personal things of the Kings grandmother. Having visited Bkk several times and seen a lot this is one of my favorite places!

Royal Romance

- Please note that this palace will opened from the end of December until March. After that it will be closed until December for opening again. The reason is that here is the residence of Thai princess and they don't want to have tourists all the time.
- Why you should be here? This palace located at the center of Bangkok. You can reach here by skytrain, Siam station, or stop your car at Siam Paragon 4 hours for free.
- This palace owned by grandmother of present Thai king. The architecture got influence from Italy, Tuscany part. So you can enjoy both of beautiful building and the history. They offer transmitter for the foreigner that you can understand more about The Royal Family. Importantly, the balcony of 2nd floor is the place where present king married with the queen.
- Furthermore, you can enjoy royal thai cuisine, very rare fir nowadays.

Royal residence

This was the residence of the Queen Grandmother and the Princess Mother which has been turned into a museum Open from the middle of December 2014 until the end of March 2015, Mondays to Saturdays from 10 am - 3 pm. With an admission fee of 150 baht, student rate 50 baht, a guided tour is given. Lovely big house, fabulous decorations and personal memorabilia of the royal occupants. A museum worth visiting.

Srapathum Palace, a hidden Tresor in Siam!

Between all the Shopping temples like Siam Paragon, etc in a 2 minutes walk from Siam Kempinski Hotel (via Paragon Mall) you discover one of Bangkok's most beautiful Palace Museums! Ask the nice & very helpful Information in Siam Paragon for direction! The hidden Place in a beautiful tropical garden offers an intimate view of how the mother and grandmother of the present Thai King lived. The guide offers charming anecdotes of royal life when the present King was a child. Something very special !!!

Memorable place for the marriage of King Rama9

This is one of the museum that should not miss. They provide Audio guide & map in which I can understand each important place in details especially for the marriage place of King Rama9 . For the color of king or queen come from the date of Birth ex Monday is Yellow ; Friday is Blue .This is opened for certain periods of time only . ( Dec 2016- March 2017) . I could also enjoy the real taste of Thai Foods which is difficult to find elsewhere.

Guide necessary!

We arrived at the museum at noon, they told us to wait an hour for a guide to be available. No on else but my son and I were attending, so we waited in the cafeteria.
Communication was difficult and thanks to another lady leaving she managed to interpret for us.
Our guide finally arrived and she was very sorry for making us wait, she explained to us how life was in the house and much about the life of the royal family, and specifically talked about the current Princess' efforts to bring social benefits to the people of Thailand. After, we toured the house on our own wearing headphones and listening to recording-guide.
I'm not sure the tour is for everyone, I enjoyed it, but my teenager son was not as interested.

A nice break from the nearby shopping malls...

A very special place which is well worth visiting. The palace was beautifully restored and gives an insight into the way royals used to live in a not-so-distant past. You are given an audio guide in English, but the descriptions are a bit succinct: it would be great if the museum could offer at least one visit per day with a live guide in English.
