About
We are a Thai cooking school, offering regular Thai cooking classes, private classes, professional chef courses, fruit carving, and team building events. All frying, preparation, instruction, and eating is done in an air conditioned classroom, using new fryers and cooking stations. We are located 4 blocks from BTS On Nut, right off of Sukhumvit Road on Soi 75/1; this makes us very easy to find.

I booked the morning half day cooking course direct on the Bangkok Thai Cooking Academy website. The meeting point and directions were very clear. We first went to the nearby market to learn about different Thai vegetables and herbs. Then we went to the Academy, each person was given one work station for chopping/prep and another for cooking. The ingredients had been portioned up for each of the five dishes and with some final chopping done by the students.

I enjoyed the class and it is well suited to those interested in Thai food as well as novices to the kitchen. After the cooking we sat and ate the cooked food as lunch, as other reviews have mentioned it would have nice if containers were available to take home the large amount of left overs. The teaching chef was helpful and happy to answer questions.

I love Thai food and I love to cook. This was a well-organized, well staffed and wonderful way to spend half a day, even if you don't think you like to cook. Pick up at hotel, trip to market where (finally!) pictures were welcome, perhaps due to the group and regular tour. In so many other markets in Africa and Central Asia photos are a unwelcome intrusion. The class was set-up so everyone had every item needed to do hands-on cooking after a very good demonstration. We ate what we prepared and it did not disappoint! Highly recommended

It's my first time to go to Bangkok to study a short course Thai Cooking. I was supposed to take 4 classes (am and pm classes for 2 days) which would earn me a certificate but unfortunately, since I arrived late the previous day and having a headache and it was raining the next day, I decided not to attend and instead, looked for the school by following the map they provided at their website and thought of buying myself a pair of flip flops since my shoes were dripping wet from the rain. Upon arrival at the school, I was greeted warmly by the instructor who was having a Fruit Carving class. He called up Mr. Ron Estrada, the school head and asked me to wait for him. As I was waiting, I was assessing the school. It was clean and the staff are friendly and accommodating. When Mr. Estrada came, he gave me a short background about the school and was very friendly.
The next day, my instructor and I met up at the Asoke BRT Station and went on a market tour. He introduced me to the different leafy greens and spices that are used in Thai Cooking. The market tour was short but its okay. Then we went to school and upon arrival, we started out cooking right away. The staff provided us with our own apron and utensils for cooking. Ingredients were placed on your respective tables and proportioned for 1 serving. We were only 2 students that morning class so it was like a one on one since there were also some instructors available and helping us out. The recipes were great and easy to follow. We also have our own cooking stations outside and a staff was ready to clear out the used pots and pans. You don;t have to CAYGO (Clean As You Go). And true to their word, you should come there hungry because you will be eating what you prepared. It was fun when we were all having lunch together. Although there were times when the instructors would be telling stories or jokes in Thai, you can't help but be amused on how animated they converse.
The afternoon class was a breeze. I was the only student. We started out early so we can all go home early. After 2 hours, everything was done and again, I can eat what I prepared. I have to pass this one and asked them if I can take my dishes home. Gladly, they put them all in plastic bags and ready to go. As it was still too early, we decided to stay and talk about whatever comes to mind. It was a blast !!! I totally enjoyed and got entertained. The instructors and I shared ideas, from food to culture and tradition, even Bangkok night life.
I didn't mind that the class was shorter as advertised. As a culinary instructor back here at home, food shouldn't be prepared long specially if it is just stir-fried. Although the recipes were easy-as-pie, still the thought of doing it the Thai way makes it worth the experience.
As for the instructors, they are trying their best to speak in English and I salute them. They are all exceptional in their field and I hope I will be able to join them again when I make another visit in Bangkok for further Thai Cooking studies.

I took a private class and it didn't go very well. Most of the ingredients were prepared in advance and put on little plates in the exact quantities you need, so all I really got to do myself was mix it and put it in the pan. I didn't really learn how to do it myself, and I didn't feel prepared to cook these recipes on my own. The pace was very fast and the chef did most of the work without explaining. He also didn't speak much English so he couldn't answer my questions.

Additionally, some of the food was unsanitary. There were ants in the peanuts and I had to insist that they switch to fresh ingredients. The meat was room temperature and doesn't seem to have been refrigerated.

Also, while some dishes were delicious some were pretty mediocre. The fried rice wasn't very good, and the curry was overpoweringly spicy even though I asked for mild. (Again, probably a communication issue.) They print the recipes for you but the actual recipes differed significantly from what was printed, which again makes it hard to replicate what we did in the class on your own at home.

If you want a great private lesson where you will learn the techniques well enough to cook your favorite Thai dishes on your own, I strongly recommend Thai Home Cooking with Angsana. I took that class too, and it's nearby and far superior in terms of food quality and how much you'll learn.

This was the first cooking school I attend during my 2 week stay in Bangkok. The regular chef was not available and a chef of the 5 day class presented the class. This is not the best cooking school and the experience can be described as average. The pickup point and school is close a BTS station. The school has a rundown look. After the class you are given a piece of paper with a website which is not that of the school for recipes. This is mot the most expensive school but there are cheaper schools which offer a better overall experience.

It’s really hard to work out how you can buy the ingredients prep the food, get taught cook and eat five dishes in 3.5 hours but you do. This was a spontaneous booking for us and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Friendly, well organised, and just good fun we managed to produce some of the tastiest Thai food we have had this trip (but we would say that).
Communication before was very good, all ran exactly as they said it would. You get your own choice of 5 dishes, no sharing, your own individual cooking station, quality ingredients ( no tacky meat) and you get to eat the lot in an unhurried end meal.
Great way to spend half a day, great value ( could not buy a five dish meal for that) recommended for all abilities.

High recommend this cooking class. We booked prior to going on holiday and thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. We met at a shopping mall near On Nut train station and were given a leaflet and asked to choose 5 dishes we wished to cook. We then proceeded to the Cooking Academy - a short 5 minute walk away where we would leave our bags while we visited the nearby market, where various ingredients we would be using were explained to us. Very informative and interesting. On return to the Cooking Academy, all our ingredients were laid out at our work station, ready for preparing and cooking.

Our "tutor" spoke excellent English and was very interesting to listen to as well as funny. I have to say it was extremely well organised from start to finish. Once we started to cook our dishes, our dirty dishes/pans/utensils were replaced with clean ones by one of the many helpers, ready for us to cook our next dish. Very slick indeed.

We hadn't really tasted much Thai food before our trip and were very impressed - very flavoursome and a great choice of dishes available to cook. I just hope we can get all the ingredients back home to replicate!

We were given a Certificate at the end of the course and access to a website with all recipes (not just the ones we had chosen to cook).

I would say this is definitely a MUST in Bangkok - just fab!

This school was highly recommended to me by a friend, and I now too, can do the same. I really enjoyed the class, and the staff were just lovely. Everything was carefully thought out and highly organised. I really enjoyed learning about some of the local produce at the market tour. Anyone looking to do a cooking class, this is the place to go!

Everything was well organised - from the meeting at the station to the layout at the tables and the ingredients. I really enjoyed the course and the instructor was good with a lot of information about Thai food and spices. There were only 8 people in the class so it wasn't cramped but it was nice to meet people from around the world. I highly recommend this to anyone who has a half day to spare in Bangkok!

Cooking classes are a very popular tourist activity in Thailand and almost always attract rave reviews on Trip Advisor. If you like to cook, you must certainly do one or two. I think I am a serial offender! My course today with Bangkok Academy was maybe my 5th course in Thailand over several years. I feel I have the experience to judge the great courses and this course has good and bad points. The facilities at this cooking school are first-rate and the staff are friendly and helpful. The structure of this course is like every course I have done in Thailand. Starting out with a market visit to look at fresh Thai ingredients, then cooking 3 to 4 dishes - in this case, an entre, a curry, a stir fry and basic desert. The courses end with eating your food and then you receive online access to the recipes you made. The staff are so efficient here, almost the bulk of the food preparation is done for you and laid out on trays. The only thing you need to do is just slice some ingredients and stir-fry. This makes everything so simple and would be great for kids, but it also means that you are blindly following instructions without learning to think like a Thai chef. The teacher was very friendly but lacks the experience and insight of a true culinary teacher. In my opinion, there was not enough theory, cooking techniques and knowledge in this course. The teacher did not help any of the students with their knife technique and several people needed it. The class was managed well with multiple dishes being cooked at once. However, it's not enough to follow instructions, if we are to learn to cook Thai at home, we also need to understand the whole process and be involved in it, understand the sequence and why things are done a certain way. This whole course felt very rushed to me. It needed to be at least an hour or maybe two longer. However, this is the tourist industry! If they did that and took extra special care, they could not squeeze two courses into one day and push people out conveyor belt style.
