Great fun in Bangkok! We visited the market first, which was great to understand what all produce looks like and what we can use at home to reproduce taste.
Then the cooking starts ! I came home and bought a mortar and pestil to start right away. Such good food!

Pink Chili was my first introduction to Bangkok and it was fabulous. The pace was nice and easy, great for jet lag. The teachers were awesome, the food was delicious. I met great people from around the world.

This was the first time we attended a cooking class so this review is not in comparison to other schools.

The facility itself is lovely, spacious and clean - our experience was average. We arrived at the facility and we were taken to the local market and shown different Thai ingredients. There was no information on the ingredients; just "this is lemongrass, shallots, etc".

When we got back to the cooking school we were told to cut the ingredients then we went to our stations to cook. We weren't given any information or background on the dishes we were cooking, it was more like a cook book with direct instructions eg "now cut the shallots, not add the pumpkin".

At the end we had 4 dishes - all delicious and the recipes to take home.

The class was missing the experience - learning about the food/ dishes in more detail like their background but the dishes of course were delicious.

If you are looking for a no nonsense class that will take you through a cook book then we do recommend this class. If you are looking for an experience I would try elsewhere.

Just finished the class, I was under the impression that when I booked the max of people would be 6; we were 11.
The class starts at the metro station, no intro, no explanation of what to expect.

Market visit with 11 people in the narrow alleys means its hard to follow.

Cooking class space is good.

Nevertheless there have to be better classes as there is no connection between the chef and the class and actually no passion for food shared.

Apparently the directions for meet up are explained in text in some obscure part of the printed documents. I had read about it being at Pink Chili and mapped my way to their. Not alone one other person was inside waiting. We were escorted back toward the BTS station and met up with our hostess and the other 8 in our class- we then went to the market to see the ingredients and learn how to shop for these items. Interesting! The class was good and you get a printed handout for recipes, sometimes hard to understand language and ingredients. But overall a fantastic experience cooking with the wok, and making the curry paste! 2 more showed up late for 12 total- a manageable group.

This is a really great way to learn more about navigating Bangkok’s many markets, as well as how to cook authentic Thai dishes. Pimmy is very friendly and knowledgeable. The dishes were delicious and being able to take home a recipe book is a great souvenir. A great way to start a trip in Bangkok.

My Dad and I booked this trip for the afternoon and we had such a lovely experience! The group of 10 of us met at On Nut BTS station, from there we walked to a local market, a real authentic experience here, Pimmy told us about local ingredients and was interesting to hear the differences between ingredients. A short walk from the market was the kitchen/classroom. Classroom was lovely and air conditioned, very clean, water and tea/coffee available. We cooked 4 dishes: Sweet and Sour Chicken, Pad Thai, Red Thai curry and Mango sticky rice. Had fun preparing ingredients, the team were very organised and brought the ingredients we would need for each dish on trays. Everyone had an individual Wok so got very hot in the kitchen but good fun! Had fun tasting the dishes after as well! Thank you Pimmy for a great afternoon.

My wife and I had a great time with the cooking class. The Market tour was very interesting and educational. Since we live in the US, we were told what items could be substituted which is a big plus. Other cooking classes we took had no clue what could be used in place of the local products.

We did the morning class with Pimmy and she was fantastic. The group was small and we had a quick tour of the local market where Pimmy introduced us to different local produce before moving on to the cooking school. The class was well planned, fun, had some great classic Thai recipies, the classroom had everything we needed and most of all the food we made tasted excellent!

Definitely would recommend this budget friendly tour to anyone visiting Bangkok.

We really love Thai kitchen. Last time after our Thai vacation we returned back to Europe and I tried to replicate the classic thai recipes based on internet videos. Well... The food was ok but somehow it did not resemble the authentic taste that we expected. This is when we decided that next time when we visit Thailand I will participate in a cooking class to get first-hand experience.

We searched for possible classes on the internet and due to promising reviews we decided to book a course at Pink Chili Thai Cooking Class. The correspondence with Pimmy was really smooth and I received detailed instructions about the meeting point for our class.

We started at a local market where we got to know the most important base ingredients and Pimmy also gave us hints how to check whether the vegetables have good quality. Getting the good quality ingredients is key so I really enjoyed that we started our class at the market.

Afterwards, we headed to the cooking class location that was just around the corner. The place was really clean and everything was nicely prepared (pencils, printed recipes that we could take home afterwards, the required ingredients etc...). 4 people participated the class, which was just the perfect size. We got clear instructions and hints during cooking that was super helpful and key to the ultimate success. :)

To be honest, I was a bit concerned whether I can purchase all the authentic thai ingredients (such as thai egg plant or dried shrimps) back at home in Frankfurt, Germany but to my utmost surprise the local asian market had all the relevant imported thai ingredients. So nothing can stop me now to cook authentic pad thai at home :)

Thank you so much Pimmy for the experience. I would strongly recommend Pink Chili Thai Cooking Class to everyone who is interested in thai kitchen and would like to learn some dishes from the locals in a really great environment.
