Situated in the centre of a really busy traffic island, it's not possible to get up close to this building, unlike it's sister, the North Gate. It's a pretty similar structure, but with a much larger and more prominent roof. Alas, you'll never get near enough to discover anything close up.

Now in the middle of a busy intersection, this was once an entry point to the walled city. It provides for nice photos with the cks memorial in the back.

It is not a real historical building. The Taipei City Walls were established in 1884 (Qing Dynasty). Originally, there had five Gates. All that remains from the old Qing Dynasty city is only the North Gate. The West Gate and city walls were demolished in 1900. The East Gate, South Gate, little South Gate were then further demolished and rebuilt... More
