Nice day out

Pleasant park, springs and steam, strong Japanese influence. Other spas, onsen, in the area. Other historic buildings to visit.

Beitou Hot Spring is pretty small actually. You can walk the whole area in about 1-2 hours. There are a lot of hotels with private hot spring around Beitou, you will need to do some research before hand to choose which one has a better price.

From the Beitou park towards the hills are were the hot springs are located. The whole surrounding area is pretty, and you can definitely spend time wandering around to enjoy the parks, visiting the museum if you like, before entering the hot spring pools. There's also a Thermal valley near the Beitou park, which we didn't manage to visit. For... More

We had went to Tamsui all day walking around so when it was time to sit in the hot spring, we welcomed it. Not sure what my expectations were but there are several pools with cool, cold, scalding and hot water. We got there when it just opened so it wasn't crowded at first, which made it pleasant. I think... More

We enjoyed our day and didn't even go in the hot springs. We just enjoyed wandering around the area, enjoying the views, museum and food. It was very easy to get to. Take the red line to Beitou station, then transfer to the short line to the hot springs area. There's lots of walking, on hills, so it's maybe not... More

Men - apparently they changed the apparel protocol. You have to wear swim trunks that are spandex tight. Yes, you read that correctly. My brother and dad brought regular baggy swim trunks and those are NOT accepted. They check your swim wear before you enter the through the gates so if you choose not to purchase their spandex swim trunks,... More

It's nice to soak in the fresh air, but there are lots of people, very few changing rooms and if you unknowingly come shortly before cleaning, you'll get kicked out very confused and wonder why you made the long trek to XinBeitou. That said, on a cold day, it can be lovely. But wear tour bathing suit under your clothes... More

The thermal valley was really cool to see. It takes all of five minutes though and if you've seen something like it before, it's probably not that interested. It was a short fifteen minute walk to reach the valley from Xinbeitou station. The public bath experience had come well recommended on TripAdvisor aside from the reviews stating that the water... Meaning soso, which it is. Really nothing special, much nicer and more beautiful hot springs in other places.

The hot spring eye is small and not very much to see and do. The public hotspring nearby is good for value to take a hotspring bath if you don't mind the primitive shower facility.
