The largest zoo in Asia, this was original a private zoological garden. The giant panda house, Formosan animal area, koala house and Asian tropical rainforest area are of particular note.

When thinking of zoos outside of the usual first world countries, you tend to imagine all sorts of horrors - filthy cages, malnourished animals, tiny enclosures - and these only increase when you realise you're only paying about $0.50/£040 for admission! Yet Taipei Zoo is...More

the Zoo is well organized & a long the way, you can see a lot of information about the animals & there's also some quiz to test our knowledge about the animals. The entrance fees is cheap & you can even see penguins, koala bears,...More

This is a great place for family trips. Massive zoo with lots of animals but some of them were not in cages (which was a big disappointment).

We ended up going here because the gondola ride is closed for maintenance. Well the entrance is like $2 USD and you can pay with your easy card. There's a train ride you can take for $5 NTD or 16 cents USD but it only...More

I loved how nicely laid out the zoo was. As you enter you proceed to the right side and you see fast food and convenience shop to buy water and get your map. You will find different sections of the zoo. We first went to...More

It was an easy walk from the MRT station to the zoo entrance. The zoo itself is really big so there will be a lot of walking. We do enjoy ourselves as we manage to see many animals large and small. It is rather spaced...More

We spend the whole day here. It is very accessible via train. There's food place for breakfast and lunch. We took the train to the furthest attraction and walk our way back to the entrance. Lots of animals and their details. My kids love it.

Hi! We're planning to take the Maokong Gondola first before visiting Taipei Zoo. But I think you have to visit Taipei Zoo first before you can go to Maokong Gondola. Is there a way where we could ride the Maokong Gondola first and alight at the Taipei Zoo?

I would not recommend this. it makes more sense to visit zoo first and take a break at maokong. most likely you'll spend at least half day in zoo. Then you take gondola up to Maokong, find a nice tea house and enjoy sunset... More
hi, we plan to travel to taipei zoo and take maokong gondola next month. if we take the gondola to the top, we must take the gondola ride back to the zoo? which zoo entrance is more convenience? is the "each adult is up to 2 children for free for the gondola ride" still valid? the fares of the gondola ride is NTD50 or NTD120? look forward for yours replies. thanks, xuefen

hi! just take the MRT. Much cheaper and stops just a few 100 meters from the zoo. I took the Gondola on the way back just for fun otherwise you can certainly take the MRT back too.

If you are traveling from NY, EVA Air offers a non-stop flight from JFK to Taoyuan International Airport (TPE). Songshan Airport (TSA) is closer to Taipei city and the zoo, but you would have to connect at another airport to... More
