At the end of the 19th Century, the Qing Dynasty was corrupted and rotten, giving up vast amounts of territories to the Japanese, British and the so called Eight-Nation Alliance (八國聯軍). The Qing China lost one war after another, giving up Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau,...More

This memorial recognizes the 400,000 soldiers who have died in defense of Taiwan. The guard changes every hour, worth seeing the pomp and circumstance. The grounds also has a temple guarded by two eight ton sculptures.

We were so overwhelmed by this place. As you enter, live soldiers on guard "greet" your visit. This shrine, dedicated to the martyrs of the war of independence on the mainland versus the communists in 1948, brings tears to your eyes as you realize the...More

The shrine provides a glimpse of Taiwan's history and military foundation. Changing of the guard is worth waiting for, very usa style of military ceremony in an Asian setting.

A memorial to soldiers fallen on the way to the creation of Taiwan. There is an hourly changing of the guard ceremony. Best visited when there is no rain as the way from the gate to the shrine is fairly long.

This Place is dedicated to the fallen soldier who fought for the country. Here you can witness the changing guard for every hour. Just manage your time here because there is not much to see here and public transportation sometimes not frequent.

The martyr's shrine is a lovely place on the outskirts of the city dedicated to people who have given their lives for the country.

Megalomanic shrine built in honor of hundred of thousands killed on the different battles of Shan Kai Chek and the oponents to build "his" China which he failed to do. The change of the guard every hour reminds us other places should not be mentioned.
