This small museum takes you through brief history about Nepal and locals i.e.Nepalese. Culturally you get to see their historical dress, their living style, festivals and caste system. If you have limited time it is advised you should visit Mountaineering museum next to pokhara airport instead of this one. Overall above average!

This is a tiny museum but had some interesting exhibits. Very basic facilities (I wouldn’t recommend using the toilets here!) but a good glimpse into the culture and customs of Nepal and especially Pokhara.

There seems to be a little confusion with reviews for this place . It is not the Gurkha Memorial Museum . This is a Local Museum given over to the History of the region .... it's culture and complex Tribal breakdown . It is wonderfully low key .... we start as early as the Stone Age ..... and move on up the centuries . Most of the exhibits look like you can open the cabinets and get a good hold of them . I found the whole experience charming . Lot's and lots of musical instruments , agricultural implements , kitchen and household items , costumes and pottery galore . Even models of houses , religous artefacts , photographs and descriptions of Religous Ceremonies . Even wonderful Shaman and Animist Gods , depictions of Demons and Spirits . The examples of Metalwork I found particularly interesting even woven Fish Traps which were not unlike Fish Traps I have seen among Tribal Aborigines in Australia and was quite astonished to see similar tools that I use back in the Forest in Australia . I took my time and I had plenty of room - there were very very few people there . The Staff are very low key and full of smiles . I would recommend this to anybody BUT to an Anthropologist it's essential

Many would not appreciate this museum as it is simplistic in comparison to western museums, however, take the time and appreciate ehe country you are in. The history and feats described in this museum are awe inspiring.

So... when you're in Pokhara and you've done all the cool and amazing things to do there, only then should you think about visiting this meseum.

It's nothing great. It speaks a little about their culture, their different clans, their utensils, their clothing, their festivals, etc. etc. I got out of the museum in about 15 minutes.

Definitely not worth a visit!
