We been here with Budget Adventure Treks and Expeditions it was really very professional organised trekking so far we have. Love the Poon hill and the thanks to the BATE team for making our trip successful and unforgettable in our life. Poon hill itself just a best of the best view point to see mountains very close .

This was my highlight of our nepal visit, but we didn’t have long enough to do the other longer treks around the region or Base Camp. Some of the reviews here are comparing it to those longer treks that are less busy and probably more beautiful. We went in low season (Jan) so it wasn’t packed out with people up the top.

I actually thought the view from one of the points between Ghorepani and Tadapani was better, and really do wonder if I needed to get up so early to see it at dawn. Apparently the view is clearest before midday so I probably could have gone at 9 and missed the crowds and the freezing cold.

The trek itself though was just amazing. Changing scenery the whole time and lots of little tea houses to stop at to refresh or for lodging. You can do it anywhere between 3-6 days depending if you rest earlier each day. I should warn travelers that it says this trek is easy because it doesn’t have much skill or special gear required. It is physically exerting so if you aren’t fit you’ll struggle. I thought I was fit with 3 running days and 4 days a week strength training, cycling or swimming but I was *tired* after those stairs and slopes. I guess all my cardio is on relatively flat surfaces. We did it in 4 days with one day being only a half day. Pulled up fine but not sure if we could have done it in 3 days or if we would have been sore. We did talk to some other trekkers who were using the poon hill trek as training for the 18-25 day treks.

Relatively easy 45-minute sunrise climb up steps from Ghorepani, and very worthwhile. Wait until the crowd dissipates, buy a cup of coffee, and hang out for a while in the morning sun. Some of the best views in the Annapurna, prayer flags, and generally chill folk abound. Highly recommend, A+.

We have enjoyed Poon Hill twice, as we reach Ghorepani early afternoon and still full of energy we decided to climb to the hill to see the trail as the next morning we would start at wee hours even we could already see the clouds covering the Hill. From lower Ghorepani it took as around 50 minutes as were stopping for the pics. From the upper part is about 10 minute shorter. Unfortunately we could not see the sunset or the view of Himalaya range, at least we could enjoy the serenity of the place without the crowd. The next day, early morning, at around 4:30 we started to climb up accompanied by drops of rain, thunders, lightnings and cloudy sky with hope that the weather can change. Some people gave up and return back. At the half way we paid 100 NPR. At the time we reached the top it stopped raining and the clouds started to disappear, the sky got clear. The tower and the platform was already busy but still at Covid time less people than at pre-Covid time in high season. The views were breathtaking and awesome. If you are cold or thirsty there is a small booth with tea, with a little but inflated prices.

I did 3 days trekking and reach poon hill for sunrise. It was medium tensity for first timer the first part to ULLERI was hard cause they were many stairs after that was ok!
It was worth it but if you have more days continue to abc camp or anapurna circus

First time hikers would really enjoy hiking going to Poon Hill from Ghorepani. As a Filipino citizen and a UAE resident, I didn't experienced snow and being cold as much when I was here. I have a guide while hiking but it is not recommended as many people hike together so you can do it on your own. Just be careful as the path is steep and slippery during winter. My guide told me that visiting around summer is the most likely thing to hike as the snow would not bother during these activities.

Poon Hill at sunrise is an amazing experience.
It's only 45 - 60 minutes walk from Upper Ghorepani.
In early January, the fresh snow made the scenery even more spectacular.
Typically the weather is a little clearer in the morning & whatever clouds linger usually move through quickly.
At time of this post sunrise is around 06.50.
So plan to leave Ghorepani around 5.30 to get into position to see the Himalayas and hear the collective cheer once these beautiful peaks appear.
The Poon Hill loop is manageable for amateur trekkers.

One of the most rewarding experience as it was my first ever rugged trek. 3 days cost us 135$ each inclusive of the guide and transpo from Kathmandu. We took a micro van to pokhara 6hrs drive. Then 2hrs taxi to nayapool. From nayapool we hired a jeep for an 3000nrp to ulleri. Then the 7hr trek officially starts. Mostly up hill climb. We reached Ghorepani and stayed for the night for rest before the 5am trek to poon hill begun. It was well worth it.

Poon Hill is about four-five days trek from Pokhara if you start your trekking at Birethanti. You can hire a jeep or taxi from Pokhara to Birethanti. The first day of the trek is almost entirely uphill. Depending upon how slow (or fast) you want to do this, you can reach Ghorepani on second or third day. Poon Hill itself if about 30 minutes walk from Ghorepani, where one can observe amazing golden mountains during sunrise, which is this trek route famous for. You can either come back the same way or go to Ghandruk and spend a few days in this typical Gurung village. Poon Hill trek is a tea house/lodge trekking. The food along the Trek is simple, the views are wonderful and you can get a feel of Nepalese mountain life. Definitely worth the money and time

This is the best place for sunrise watching and the mountain ranges of the Himalayas. Entrance fee is NPR 100 for foreigners. We had to wake up at 4.30am, then start trekking at 5am upwards using stairways for about 300-400meter from Ghorepani, which took us about 45 mins to reach. Torch is required since walking in the dark before sunrise. Walking pole can be useful too. There is a viewing tower where visitor can climb up for different views and vendor selling tea. Since it was winter when we were there, it was -7 degree celcius. Hence, warm clothing, gloves, hats and scarves, plus good walking shoes are essential. Excellent views from the top at Poonhill and really worth it to wake up early and the climb up for 45 mins to an hour.
