This area was once a thriving center for bargaining, eating and meeting other travelers; these days it's become quiet due to the popularity of the nearby Thamel district.

There is some interesting history here with the hippy movement in the 60's but that was all shut down under pressure from the US government to ban marijuana in the 70s. How arrogant and imperialistic of my country to dictate this sort of thing. Since...More

Great place to find quaint souvenirs, paintings and clothes. Unless otherwise indicated, everything is negotiable we were there in the 2000s

We both went here to find so many shops and eating places. Some people had spread their materials on the roads as well to attract some customers.

Reportedly, Freak Street visited by Bob Marley, the Beatles and Jimi Henrix. Multiple sweat shops and bars. Interesting to visit.

Interesting place to visit, tucked away a little with shops of interest and tourists galore checking this place out

I walked through this street on my way to the nearby Durbar Square. There weren’t any shops that appealed to me but it was interesting to walk through a street with history. There were various clothing shops, tattoo shops, and restaurants.

the area may be rich in history but now is just another tourist trap street in another capital city and has no charm at all unless you like drinking in overpriced theme bars.

It was a must to visit based on it's history, but its not what it use to be. Still go take a look. The hippies changed, there are not the backpackers anymore, but still has shops and restaurants, bars.
