Its located farther from Boudhanath (Boudha) if coming from Airport. You need to take a taxi to go there, though it's not very far from Boudha. Make sure to keep the taxi waiting for you while you go inside the monastery as when we went there, we had to walk quite a distance to find a taxi on our way... More

I travel to Nepal for business but Kopan is worth a moment to reflect and sit. Monastic life runs on a different time. Surround yourself with the beauty and color of Nepal while enjoying the peace away from the hectic streets of Kathmandu. There are many significant sights at the Monastery to stop and take in as well. Be sure... More

I attended the 10 day, Mindfulness in Daily Living course at this monestary, facilitated by Venerabla Carla Pearce. The course was excellent, and the food and accommodation was really good. The grounds of the monestary are really well cared for. I was surprised to see palm trees growing there. I really enjoyed my time at this monestary. The 360 views... More

Over 2,000 temples have been protected by the UN Heritage Commission. Mother Nature's Wrath (MNW) has been unleashed on these wonderful delightful cultures. Worth risking all to visit but 3-4 weeks a must. One needs to take 5-6 days to climatize to the Katmandu altiude of almost 5,000 feet similar to Santa Fe, New Mexico or Denver, Colorado. You need... We hired a taxi there and then walked back. The entrance is free but you need to knock at the gate as it is closed. We walked around and enjoyed the views from there. We also layed down on the grass which was nice.

Must visit if you are in Kathmandu. The architecture and the pagodas are awesome. You will feel peace once you are there.

I went up to the monastery after my trek to enjoy some quiet time. Unfortunately, it was a cloudy day so sitting in the lovely gardens wasn't an option. However, it would normally be a nice place to look out over Kathmandu and sit and reflect. If you have any interest in Buddhism then the library is a must and... More
