Great Mahavishnu in supine position

It is a great carving on a massive black stone, in supine position. The mace, sudarshan, & conch part of carving. The snake (adisesha ) is very much coiled. Beautiful & beatiful

Buddhanilkantha is a an impressive carved stone statue of the sleeping Vishnu in a tank of water surrounded by a few small temples and shrines. I visited in June 2015, shortly after the earthquake so travellers were thin on the ground in Kathmandu and there were no others at Buddhanilkantha. This is the famous 'Sleeping Vishnu' and I think is a World Heritage site. It is a Hindu devotional place and has a wonderful ancient feeling. I liked it a lot

The stupa suffered little damage in the April earthquake and is worth a visit to experience the size of the building and the interesting surrounding buildings.
