    Memorable and rejuvenating stay
Firstly , the view was amazing, away fromthe hustle and bustle of the city. To sweeten the deal, we got upgraded to the executive suite and the room was amazing. Thank you ot the hotel management. The Ala carte dinner was just too delicious. Had a memorable stay.. will surely recommend to others.

    Too good
The cable car is good and looks safe enough. The crowd was less. Starts around 830 am. Closes around 5 pm. There is a break from 12 to 1 in the afternoon everyday. So plan accordingly. Safe with kids and elders. We get snacks and tea also on top of the hills. Breathtaking views. Nice temple on the top. Must visit when we go to Kathmandu.

    Chandragiri mountain
Chandragiri Mountain in Nepal offers a breathtaking panoramic view of the Kathmandu Valley and the Himalayas. The cable car ride provides a scenic ascent, and the Bhaleshwor Mahadev Temple at the summit adds a cultural touch. It's a serene escape from the city, ideal for nature lovers and those seeking a peaceful retreat.

    Go to CGH 😊
We felt wonderful staying at Chandragiri Hills Resort. Scenic beauty of the Himalayas and Chill Environment. Outdoor jacuzzi with infinity pool was very relaxing. Also, food was too delicious and value for money. Highly Recommended to spend quality time with loved ones.

    Great day trip!
It takes at least 45 min to get to the lower cable car station from Thamel by car. This is an efficient modern business, clean toilets, freshly cooked food and helpful staff. On a clear day the views are spectacular! I was lucky to get a good morning ( best to go early as cloud seems to accumulate as the morning goes on). The whole Himalayan range from Annapurna to Everest ( distant, but visible through the binoculars at the tower viewing level) could be seen. There is a temple, some children's play areas, horse riding and the zip line too. However, the majestic mountains are the reason to make this trip

A nice uphill hike to 2,551m...
We decided to hike up to Chandragiri Hill (2,551m) on our 3rd day from Mandala Studio. We had to skip one yoga class to acclimatize before our Pikey Peak trek next. Rum was the guide going with us on the hike. He was friendly and taught us a few Nepali words during the trek. It was surreal that I found out the fruit tree near a yellow house was his house. The yellow fruit turned out to be a pomelo or bhogate in Nepalese. It was very sour vs the version back home. For a regular hiker, the trek up to Chandragiri Hill is easy but all the way uphill. We took about 3.5 hours to hike up to the summit. After lunch, we took a cable car (USD13 ticket for adult below 60 years, USD10 above 60 years) down and return to Mandala by a taxi which overcharged us. At the summit on a clear day, you could see Everest and Langtang etc. Unfortunately, on the day we went, the weather was misty. We ate vegetable and chicken momo at a restaurant and they were tasty and yummy! Unlike the solitude during the trekking trails, the hill was filled with tourists. There is a zipline for the daring!

    Great experience in Chandragiri Hills
Excellent location with lot of adventure activity at very reasonable price. Excellent views of the Himalayas, unfortunately it was a cloudy day so the peaks were not fully visible. The ropeway journey was very smooth and comfortable.

A popular destination away from the hustle bustle of Kathmandu
Amazing cable car experience. weather was not perfect for any sighting of mountain range, but the visit was enjoyable. There is a restaurant atop, but everything (including the cable car) is closed from 12-1 for lunch. Cable car ride is strongly recommended

Journey to the Top: A Spectacular Adventure at Chandragiri Hills Cable Car
Following an enjoyable 30-minute motorbike ride from Kathmandu, we arrived at the Chandragiri Hills cable car station within half an hour. We secured our tickets for $23 and patiently waited in line to embark upon our journey to the hilltop. The cable car smoothly transported us over the lush pine forests, unveiling stunning panoramic views of the valley beneath, the verdant hills encircling it, and the grandeur of the Himalayan range. This visually captivating ride foreshadowed an experience we'd never forget. In just about 10 minutes, the speediest route from the base to the hilltop, we were granted a pristine and unbroken view of both the valley and the Himalayas. The vibrant cherry-red cabin, designed to hold 8 passengers at once, moved from the Lower Station to the Upper Station. As we ascended, the sight of the valley underneath, the rolling green hills, and the snow-draped Himalayas gradually disclosed their beauty to us. The journey was as exhilarating as it was enchanting, offering both luxury and affordability. It was truly a magnificent experience! The entire Kathmandu valley and the Himalayan range spread out before us, a sight to behold.

This place is away from the city and the incline while driving is pretty steep in some areas. It was quiet windy, so please bring a jacket or shawl. The ticket cost is also quiet high, so please have enough cash.
The queue for getting into the cable car is pretty long - and we went on a Saturday (official weekly holiday in Nepal, unlike Sunday in RoW) nonetheless, I counted about 7 winding rows before getting into the cable car. Took about 30 mins.
The cable cars are very comfortable, and can accomodate people in a 4 + 4 configuration. The views are stunning once the car starts picking speed. The entire journey from the base station to the top took about 12 minutes and it was a great ride.
Once at the top, the temperature was about 2 degrees cooler than the base, and the wind had picked up speed. The walk from the point where you get off the cable car and walk to the top is less than 500 mtrs - but it is steep incline.
The main attractions are the Lord Shiv temple, zip line and zip bicycle. I did not see the point of paying extra for the viewing tower. It was bright and sunny, but the peaks were all covered with clouds, so we could not see any peak. There are food stalls and overall it was good change from the hustle and bustle of the city below.
The return journey was also smooth, and there was no rush at the cable car return station. There was sign that said there is a break from 12:00 - 13:00....
The views from top are amazing. Bring sunglasses, umbrella and so forth.

The best season to visit Chandra Giri Hills is after the monsoon in October and November.
Having missed that, I went up by the gondola chair lift.
The view from the top was zero visibility due to passing clouds.
However, the fat moms and fat kids dancing their heart out to Hindi cinema songs made the visit entertaining and hilarious.
It is another matter that Saroj Khan would be turning in her grave to the ungainly pirouetting of the fat moms.

The day was a washout due to visit in the wrong season.

Visit only in October and November for mountain views.

Not recommended for other months.
