This place is a small drive from the Thimpu town. You can actually see the Buddha from Thimpu town. The chorten there is still under construction and is nearing completion. The hill offers some beautiful views of the Thimpu valley. The statue too is beautiful....More

We went during the day and it was breathtaking. But going at night, now that's truly a sight to see. You can truly experience the beauty that is Thimphu from the point, with all the shining lights and the "hustle" of the city. Locals say...More

Buddha Point is one of the best vantage points from which to see all of Thimphu ... the Buddha - a gift from the Indonesians - is GIGANTIC ... but construction debris is everywhere and there's not much to do up there.

This 169 foot statue of a seated Buddha is visible from most places in Thimpu. The outside of the statue is complete but the site is still under construction. Beautiful views of the valley from up there so worth the trip in any case. Be...More

Its a big statue of Buddha, when we went there it was really breezy and the temperature went down to -2 degree. The view from this place is awesome and so peaceful.

Its very well done and you can have a nice view of the valley. Even though everything is not finished, the Buddha itself is more than overwhelming.

The views are great and the statue reminds you of the man who has inspired one of the world's great religions. But did they have to cut the hill to make it?

The statue of Big Buddha is one of the modern landmarks in the capital, it is still under construction but the view of the city below is breath taking, especially at night.

The Takin Reserve is around 300 NU which is roughly $3 AUD or $4.80 US so it isn't expensive. Some have said it is but I think it is more than well priced.
