Even if it is a recently Buddhist site, a part the sizing impressive, I visited the site during a pubblic speech-teach, it has been a very positive experience I suggest even if not interested in buddhist issue.

I had been there as a part of Royal Enfield Bhutan Expedition organised by Mitr Group Goa. Amazing Statue of Buddha surrounded by Scenic Himalayan Beauty. I strongly recommend this place to all visiting Bhutan

It is cold in Bhutan. Check out the best time to visit. We went in May and it was wonderful. December will be wet and cold

i should say that you could do small hike with your guide from flyover bridge to Buddha point if you wish it will take at less 1.5 hr and if you take taxi or your car it will take 20 mint from town .so decision is yours .
