It was really a leisure nature hike, so beautiful and if the weather is good, the view from the hike of thimphu is really amazing. I really loved seeing the prayer flags around the area. And as we get nearer, you can spot some elderly local's home around the area.

We drove up to the BBC Tower and started our hike here. I brought along two hiking sticks as my guide warned me that it may be steep at some part of the hike. Initally we encountered alot of prayer flags and good view of Thimphu. The weather that day was cool and cloudy. After that we walked into the forest of pine trees. Path is quite flat and we saw quite alot of bluebell flowers. Finally we reached a viewpoint with a large prayer wheel. We had a fantastic view of the Thimphu Dzong and the golf course from here. After that we passed a chorten and the surrounding has a rustic look. Finally we were back at the BBC tower. Our guide picked some fruits for us to eat. It looks like little berries. It was a great hike enhanced by the fantastic weather. We took about 2 hours with including a rest stop.

We enjoyed the short hike up to the Sangaygang Lookout Point. Lovely, easy hike through blue pines & colourful prayer flags.
The Lookout point offers a stunning panoramic view of the entire Thimphu Valley.
Must Visit!

Sangaygang is situated on the hill top and it is tourist attraction. One can view Thimphu valley from this site. Bhutan Broadcasting Service Tower (BBS Tower) is there in Sangaygang and it is a very nice view point.

From the Sangaygang View Point here, one can see the entire city of Thimphu nestled in the valley below and also beautiful vistas of snow peaks and pine trees. It is close to the Broadcasting tower

This area is up in the hills that overlook the beautiful city of Thimphu. I was mesmerised by this beautiful city which has been thoughtfully constructed with the utmost care given to uniformity. The area has a beautiful cohesiveness in its aesthetic, with strict building laws preserving the beauty of the area by prescribing consistency with respect to the colours, style and height of the buildings. I went on a thirty minute hike around the Sangaygang area with my guide. I loved seeing the prayer flags that adorned the area. The walk was very peaceful, uncrowded and not too strenuous. This was one of the highlights of my time in Thimphu.

When in Bhutan, you must visit the Takin Zoo to see the national animal of Bhutan. Well, if you are there, then if you take another 10 minutes drive you can drive to Sangaygang, also called BBS tower area. You will defiantly get a good view of upper Thimphu and can see the Buddha Statue further south. Generally, in the evenings, a lot of local people like to go for walks along the road. Also quite close to Hotel Zhiwaling Ascent, where some of our guest stay. However, have to be careful as there are lot of dogs around and some do bite.

Apologies I cannot remember the name of a small temple from the hilltop. It is a small hike and there is a small temple where there are prayer flags flying and offered a wonderful view of Thimpu.
