This boutique is really something I have never seen in Togo before! The fabrics and products are really innovative and with great quality. The owner seems like an amazing woman with great ideals for running her business. I am really impressed and stayed for longer than planned! Good place to buy souvenirs for the people back home. I found gifts for everyone here. I strongly recommend this place.

I found this brand actually in Kpalimé and even got to meet the woman who founded it - Chantal Donvide. Her story is just amazing! She founded this social business in 2009 and works hard to always improve the quality of her products. In addition to that, she takes out only a humble salary and gives the rest to the education center for disadvantaged girls, that she helped build & finance (and still does). The fabrics and products they make are beautiful and not the kind of souvenir you get at every corner - they're useful in every day life, colorful and long lasting. When I walk through my home town with my Aklala Batik bag, my skirt and my flip flops, it never stays unnoticed :)
INFO TO FIND IT: As in Lomé some motos sometimes have trouble finding things, tell them it's on the "grande rue vers Kpalimé" in "Avenou, à côté du Café Informatique". Then look for what you see on the photos above - the Aklala Batik sign is a bit hidden because it's right behind a big advertisement thingy. Most people should know the Café Infromatique though :)

I was so surprised by the innovation of design. Aklala really takes the batik technique to a new level of beauty! The woman who works there was also very nice, overall a very pleasant experience. Also, I think they are supporting an education center for women. Def worth checking out :)

This little shop is a new branch of "Aklala Batik", where you can find beautifully crafted batic fabrics from Kpalimé. There are also clothes, toys, hand-carved wood products and all kinds of bags. It's the ideal spot to look for some nice gifts or souvenirs to bring home.
The easiest way to get there is probably by telling the taxi driver that it's vis-à-vis of the Café Informatique.
