I'm morally opposed to tell people something is a "must do," but people really should go here. You learn so much about what happened to the people kidnapped from their homes, dragged across the ocean and sold into slavery.

You can actually travel to the island on the ferry. Just ask the cab driver to drop you at the ferry. Be sure to check the ferry timetable. And allow half an hour before ferry departure since there are plenty of security and... More

I got to the dock at 9AM and got to the island before 1000. I was the first to the Maison des Esclaves. I got a private guide and was done before the crowd. I had to bring my passport. They did not accept drivers license.
