Very few produce, meat or poultry stands

I was excited that I was in Dakar for the monthly farmers market. The location was good and though parking was tight, I didn’t have to wait long to find a spot. I arrived around 12:30 pm. Market ran from 9am to 4pm. Entrance fee was 500 fcfa per person. There were a lot of stalls with skincare products, snacks, cookies and booths from many different restaurants. There were handicrafts, wooden puzzles made through an NGO, beautiful baskets and vases. There was a stall that sold herbs in beautiful small ‘baskets’ make of plastic. There was only I stall that had vegetables. The main reason I went was to get contact information about organic beef and chicken farms. Neither farm was represented when I got there. I was disappointed that there weren’t more selections for vegetables. I will try again next month to see if there is a better selection. The prices were a little high but considering that most of the people shopping were expats, I guess it was reasonable.
