This is a worthwhile visit. Not because of its extraordinary collection, as there are finer pieces of art scattered around the world, but for the importance of the location to the city. Art is one of Senegal's defining features, and the importance of this small...More

This museum is small but it is full of different African masks and statues used to ward off evil spirits or for fertility rituals. It was very interesting. When we visited, there was an additional exhibit in the building behind the main building on art...More

The museum offers exhibitions of real quality African Art. It is professionally curated. Organization and ambiance are truly African (poor maintenance and lots of dust). The entrance fee is a little high but still worth it, if art is your passion. It is situated at...More

Very interesting museum in Dakar, with some wonderful African art. A must see when you are there. Tickets are a bit expensive to get in, and unfortunately the maintenance of the building is not good (dust everywhere, etc.). But still a very interesting landmark.

Amazing collection of African arts. As with so much of 'traditional' art though there is little info about the creators/artists. But there is some stunning stuff. I wish there had been an English guide or captions. and it needs a cafe in the gardens

This is a little cheaper to visit that the Louvre ($9 vs $15) but 1/100th the size and a lot hotter. They have a few unique items, but hardly worth the price. You can see the whole two floors in thirty minutes. Very cool deco...More

This is a relatively small museum with a relatively expensive entrance fee. It took us no more than 35 minutes to see the entire thing. Save this for a rainy afternoon, or if you're in Dakar for along time and looking to check it off...More
