Amazing!

A must see when visiting the island! We were short on time and could not hike around the volcano but seeing the natural beauty of this area takes your breath away

A must! We started a bit late at about 10:00. My husband thought the valley below was the volcano! We then started our decent into the valley. Going down the stairs into the valley should give away what is lying ahead! The route is well marked and there is boards giving you times of how how long it will take... More

One of the most awe inspiring walks you will ever do. This massive crater is home to world's most active volcano. You MUST get there early in the morning and take plent of food and water. Once you're in the crater the temperature and terrain are unforgiving. The alk from the car park to the crater lip is five hours... More

We were advised to go early to see the sunrise on top of the volcano. So we set off at 3AM, it was very cold at this time so be prepared with a fleece, jacket, head torch, water and snacks. We arrived a the crater to see the sunrise with nobody else around, what a special experience! We were at... More

The hike to the top of the volcano and back to the starting point is not an easy one in the scorching heat. The walk and climb are not difficult though. We saw people of all ages on the hike. Be careful though, because we saw 3 hikers with light injuries from falling. This was indeed the highlight of the... More

We've been early in the morning to avoid the crowd. There are hundreds climbing the see the crater! So when we left pas bellecombe there were 7°Celsius, when we came back (30°). The path is very easy to follow, there is a very big parking place, in fact the road finishes in the parkind place. The last 5,6 km before... More

We had been led to believe that Reunion had little to offer. Not so. We were on a cruise and took the tour to the active volcano. The drive was incredible in itself, from sea level to cloud infested forest, to barren volcanic landscape and roads that twisted and turned over an ever varying landscape. And the information and views... More

Experience of a lifetime. Piton de Fournaise was out of this world and we were fortunate to have a clear view. Reunion is a present surprise all over. Neat first world country. Most imperssive road in construction between port and st Denis. All over a visit worth while.

Piton de Fournaise is Reunion Islands premier active volcano. It's quite a drive just to get to the edge of the old crater but well worth the effort. Once you've parked up you descend some stairs down the wall of the old crater then traverse a hellish alien landscape devoid of life towards the new inner crater. The terrain is... More

No trip to Reunion would be complete without seeing one of the worlds most active volcanos. Aim to get there early (as close to sunrise as your body will allow) as both the crowds and weather descend as the day progresses. The early start will be reward with vistas like no other and a real sense of being somewhere special.... More
