Really nice climb, but a bit challenging. The best way for those who are not trained is to start at the afternoon, around 12-00 pm to 1-00 pm, to reach the Gite at about 6-00 pm. Make sure one has all warm clothes and water...More

We went for an overnight trip: hike up, stay in the hut, hike up before sunrise, hike all the way down with breakfast on the way back. We started from Le Bloc car park, we took a bus from Cilaos to get there. The way...More

We stayed in Caverne Dufour, together with 70 or so other people and got up at 3:00 to start walking a little later. We reached the top as one of the first ones, so we searched for a nice spot to sit. The wind is...More

We did the PdN hike from the Cilaos side in Dec 2014. The climb is steep and rough, but it only took about 5,5h up and 4h down. We couldn't make a reservation for accommodation in Caverne Dufour, as it was already full. We brought...More

We hiked up from Cilaos and it was fantastic. Starting in tropical rainforest and getting up to the peak is going to a different world. Still the only place on earth I've been where it was 65 degrees fahrenheit at more than 10'000 feet. If...More
