We were visiting Namibia from the UK and took a drive out of Windhoek to visit Okapuku lodge with our son and grandaughter. However we were stopped at the gate and denied entry.

We were told that we could not enter for lunch on a day basis without prior booking. The gentleman at the gate was unwilling to assist although he did say we could phone the office - the first number we were given did not work and so he gave us a 2nd number.
We spoke to Selma who was rude and unhelpful. She informed us that there was a new ruling requiring prior booking which had been introduced on 2 April and we were visiting on 15/4/23.

We asked if we could make a booking over the phone and were told this was not possible. There was no flexibility or grace period with the new rules about booking. My son has visited Okapuku before for the day and was very keen for us to share this experience as well. A dissapointing experience.

We have enjoyed going to game lodges for day visits. This was a peaceful place and we did have a pleasant afternoon. The lodge is very interesting and we can sit and drink our coffee while enjoying the view.
The wait staff is the problem. They are slow to help, act angry at you for ordering, and think that yelling at customers and other staff is appropriate. This was our only problem with this lodge. They really didn't act like they know what to do and how to do it. Whether or not we were day visitors, we still had money to spend.
The dinner we had was very good. The food was great and the dinner staff was much nicer and treated us very well.
We also did the game drive. Very interesting and informative. Definitely recommended.
We will wait for a while before going back. Hopefully they will either get decent wait staff or they will train the ones they have now.

This place was one of the best childhood memories I kept dear to me up until this past weekend during a day visit. My family and I were treated with such hostility from the entrance up until the restaurant/bar area, we had to ask to be serviced/or assisted just to be seated, after 3 waiters walked by us and ignored us standing and looking lost. And the front desk lady seemed irritated when we asked questions for clarity purposes, even went as far as slightly raising her voice at us on top of not allowing us to finish our sentences as we tried to ask questions.
The only factor that made us stay was the fact that we were hungry and opted to have lunch then drive back to Windhoek immediately and not proceed to lounge by the pool area with our kiddies. We decided to swim at home rather.
Needless to say, I do not think my family and I will be returning soon, if ever.😢
And they continued to delete my comment on their Facebook page.

Excellent lodge!! It was part of our day tour... had lunch there ... superb food and great service. Wide spread buffet of local and western cuisine. Wine was fantastic. Took the tour of the ranch which was mind blowing. It was open safari and the guide was fantastic with very good knowledge. Was able to learn some interesting facts about giraffes and other animals. One of the Must visit places.

I am writing this review as I am sitting here waiting on our waitress to come get our order. We called before hand to make sure the place was not fully booked and we were advised it was not. When we arrived we were ushered to a make shift table because it was the only available place. Then we have had to wait for more than 30 minutes for our drinks order (yes they have no drinks menu). Now we are waiting for our meal order to be taken. Oh wait we have decided just to leave. No place is worth waiting an hour for especially if the service is under par and the people don't seem to care. Y'all need to do better!!

Had a year en function there, was so relaxing. Frits made our game drive fun and interesting, learned some new stuff that I did not know. Although it is very dry, Okapuka still takes care of the animals. We had a great laugh wile the ostriches chased the warthogs around.

Let's start with the beauty of the lodge. So stunning! The meal prices are outrageous but that's to be expected I'm sure. We loved walking among the warthogs, goats, sheep and ostrich. If you're staying at their guest houses I wouldn't swim since we saw some of the animals getting a drink from the pool. We loved our driver who was very knowledgeable and shared many great insights to the animals and conditions of the land. Fabulous experience I would recommend highly!

A great experience if time is limited. In beautiful surroundings and with a well informed guide, this was a wonderful experience with plenty to see.

I would rate this facility as one of the best I have ever used. The owners, staff and the great service make up for anything negative. The cheetah feeding is a value add....even though Namibia is currently having its worst drought in 90 years this Ranch succeeds in offering you a true ranch experience. The food is great and clients were of the opinion that their steaks are the best ever!!

Very spacious rooms and good food. Staff were pleasant and helpful. Swimming pool was clean. We had termites in our room but they were harmless and not worth reporting or making a fuss, but Im sure some folk would have objected. We visited here four years ago and the standard remains the same. The cheetahs in rehab are really worth a visit - no charge, but a tip for the guide is always a good idea
