The National Museum is in an odd building that must have cost a lot. But its content is important. Namibia suffered from a very tough form of colonialism in the early twentieth century. Then it's liberation movement joined in the war in nearby Angola, allied...More

The museum tells a story of the struggle for independence. A good museum it would be, but the strangely far east - like almost communist art gives it a funny and non-namibian feeling.

Arrived during their published times of business only to find it closed. Went back an hour later and found it openThe 'museum' was not worth the visit with incomplete displays/information. Had lunch at the restaurant, nothing spectacular but also nothing to complain about. Sitting outside...More

Very well presented displays of the struggle to achieve nationhood from colonial times through various occupations and privations leading to patriotic portrayals of first government by indigenous peoples. Good cafe with fantastic views on top floor.

Locals call this museum the coffee machine. It is not very special. The view over the city is nice however.

This building gives you insight into Namibia's rich history. It is not a guided tour, but the way it has been setup you will not need one. It will take you at least an hour to go through the number of floors. You will be...More

One of the problems with the TripAdvisor site is the constant confusion of the independence memorial museum with the nearby national museum --- these are two different museums!
