The museum is in an oddly stark building prominently located in Windhoek that has stunning views of the city from the restaurant on the 4th floor. Inside, however, the museum is confusing and propagandistic in nature. There are very well done murals showing montages of images from the struggle. We saw this from the Hilton and decided to visit. The museum was closed but we were able to go up to the 4th floor restaurant with amazing views of Windhoek. Perhaps because it was late, there were no guides or information on the monument. The elevators allow for good views of the city.

The building is very fascinating and we were very eager to see what is inside but we were disappointed. There were no staff at the exibitions to explain or provide information. The information boards (the very few that was available) was not very helpful. Then exhibitions open was also very limited. I would have loved more interaction and information about... More

This imposing building close to the centre of Windhoek is well worth a visit even if only for the fantastic view provided from the restaurant on the top floor. The museum is very obviously a work in progress but the completed exhibits were of good quality and gave an insight into Namibia's history. I particularly liked the three glass sided... More

This museum consists mostly of photographs depicting the history of transition from colonial Namibia to democracy. It also uses overtly emotive paintings and art to sell a very specific political narrative. Disappointing and slightly gaudy.
